Lou Tellegen ou Lou-Tellegen, de son vrai nom Isidor Louis Bernard Edmon van Dommelen est un acteur, réalisateur et scénariste néerlandais né le 26 novembre 1883 à Sint-Oedenrode dans le Brabant-Septentrional (Pays-Bas). Atteint d'un cancer incurable, il se suicide à l'aide d'une paire de ciseaux le 29 octobre 1934 à Los Angeles en Californie (États-Unis).

Il est le père de l’actrice Jane Farrar.

Rôle Harlan

Sheila Conroy, un mannequin, emprunte une robe pour se rendre à une fête. Harlan, un escroc de la société se faisant passer pour un agent du gouvernement, lui offre un poste d'assistante. Elle accepte ce poste pour aider sa sœur, Lilly, et le mari de Lilly, Billy. Ce dernier a détourné de l'argent de son entreprise et risque d'être découvert. Pat Winthrop se fiance avec Bob Shelby, un sudiste qui possède Kentucky Boy, un cheval inscrit au Nassau Handicap. Pour éviter que son père n'aille en prison, Pat rompt plus tard ses fiançailles avec Bob et accepte la proposition de Darrell Thornton. Bob doit de l'argent à Thornton et, la veille du handicap, Thornton attache Kentucky Boy. Bob vole le cheval dans son box et le jockey de Bob le conduit à la victoire. Le prix gagné sauve le père de Pat de prison et permet à Bob de rembourser Thornton. Pat et Bob se marient.

Rôle David Drene

Jack Greylock runs away with the wife of his lifelong friend, David Drene, a sculptor. Drene only knows that his wife has fled; he does not know the identity of the man with whom she went. The wife kills herself from remorse and Greylock returns to keep up the semblance of his ancient friendship with the sculptor, who buries his sorrow in his work. Cecile Waite, a model, poses for Drene and Greylock, upon meeting her, falls honestly in love with her. She, however, loves Drene, who is apparently oblivious. Drene learns through another friend that Greylock was responsible for his wife’s downfall. He first intends to kill him, but perceiving Greylock’s love for the model, resolves to work his vengeance through Cecile. Drene threatens her. Greylock pleads for mercy for the girl and eventually agrees to kill himself at midnight Christmas Eve if Drene will spare her. Drene’s brooding overturns his reason for a time and after a night of delirium, he collapses. Cecile finds him and nurses him back to health. The sculptor regains consciousness on Christmas Eve, his disposition improved. He sends Cecile to tell Greylock of his changed mood, but she cannot get into the house where Greylock is slowly preparing to keep his pledge. Drene then telepathically draws Greylock to his home and absolves him of his promise.

Based upon a review in a film publication, Don Mateo (Tellegen) attempts to bribe the mother (Dione) of Concha Perez (Farrar) so that he can use her as his toy, but Concha leaves and becomes a cigarette girl who dances at a wharf cafe. When Don Mateo discovers her there dancing for some Englishmen, he no longer believes that she is the virtuous maiden who spurned his advances.
