Lasse Pöysti (born 24 January 1927 in Sortavala) is a Finnish actor (acted both in Finnish and Swedish), director, theatre manager and writer.
Pöysti began his career as a child actor, becoming known to the Finnish public as Olli Suominen in the "Suominen family" films. The first of these films as Suomisen Perhe (1941). Pöysti was 14 years old at the time of the film. Pöysti matriculated in 1945 in the Helsinki Normal Lyceum.
From 1967 to 1974, Pöysti served as manager of the Lilla Teatern, with his current ex-wife Birgitta Ulfsson, and also acted in many roles in Swedish. During 1974–1981 he was the manager of the Tampere Workers' Theatre, and during 1981–1985 the manager of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. In his later career he has had many speaking roles in musical plays. He has had many prominent roles on television, of which among the most notable are the leading roles in the Strindberg plays Gustav III (Finnish: Kustaa III) and Erik XIV. Another renowned performance was the title role in the stage play Galileo by Bertold Brecht, which won critical acclaim. He has also read bedtime stories in children's programs.
In addition to his stage career, Pöysti has written several books, including his own memoirs. In 2002, Pöysti chose the book Juoksuhaudantie by Kari Hotakainen as the winner of the Finlandia Prize. Pöysti has lived in Paris, but currently he lives in Lauttasaari, Helsinki. Lasse Pöysti's son Tom Pöysti has also acted in many film and theatre roles.
In 2010, he received the Concrete-Jussi for lifetime achievement (the Jussi Awards are the equivalent to the Oscars in Finland).

In his hometown Oulu, Lepistö meets a man who shows him a map of Lapland, showing an "X" mark at the spot where he claims is gold. Lepistö believes the man and shows the map to his companion Ervasti. Lepistö and Ervasti travel to the Teno River, where they manage to find a couple of grams of gold. They travel back to Oulu to lay official claim on the find site but are told it has already been claimed. Finally a large gold rush to Lapland starts.

Sune, un ancien étudiant en théologie et fils d'un prêtre, rencontre Viveka dans une église. Les deux se rapprochent au fil des discussions théologiques et finissent par se marier. Au fil des années, Viveka devient de plus en plus instable émotionnellement à cause de la jalousie et de l'anxiété religieuse. Sune accepte les problèmes mentaux de Viveka et, au lieu de chercher de l'aide pour sa femme, obéit à ses ordres de plus en plus bizarres. Viveka finit par perdre complètement la tête, s'enferme dans l'appartement du couple alors que Sune est absente et tente de faire croire à ses voisins que Sune essaie de l'assassiner avec un couteau. Lorsque Sune arrive à la maison, Viveka est emmenée à l'hôpital. Sune essaie de convaincre les médecins que Viveka n'est pas folle et devrait être autorisée à sortir. À la fin, Sune ouvre un robinet de gaz et se couche à côté de Viveka afin qu'ils meurent ensemble.
