Kartik made his acting debut in 2011, as Kartik Tiwari with Luv Ranjan's romantic comedy Pyaar Ka Punchnama. He portrayed the role of Rajat (Rajjo). The film opened to mixed reviews from critics; however Kartik's performance was generally well received. He shifted to Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra to pursue engineering. He attended D.Y.Patil College, Navi Mumbai, when he was approached for 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama'. He wanted to try for films after the completion of his B.Tech course but he got lucky in the third year itself when the project fell onto his lap.
