Biographie

John Collum est le fils du directeur de casting de Hal Roach (réalisateur des Petites Canailles). En 1932, ce dernier lui propose de jouer dans le court-métrage A Lad an' a Lamp. Il y interprète Uh-Huh.

Sa dernière apparition date de 1938 dans Three Men in a Tub.

Il est enterré au Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery.

Lorsque le tuteur privé Thomas Arnold (Sir Cedric Hardwicke) devient directeur de Rugby, une école préparatoire pour garçons en Angleterre, il met en place une politique de punition stricte pour indiscipline et vol. Arnold trouve un allié en Tom Brown (Jimmy Lydon), un nouvel étudiant qui est victime de bizutage et d'abus de la part d'un groupe de garçons plus âgés et est poussé par ses amis à se taire à ce sujet. Marre, il mène ses camarades de classe dans une rébellion clandestine contre leurs bourreaux. Mais certaines règles tacites s'appliquent toujours à l'école et Brown perd son statut de héros lorsqu'il est accusé d'avoir enfreint le code du silence du rugby.

Having written of his football heroics in military school, Alfalfa returns home to a hero's welcome. But the fact is that Alfalfa never played a game in his life and borrowed Rex's, a classmate and football player's uniform to take a picture, angering him as well. No sooner has he stepped off the train than his old pal Spanky, manager of the gang's football team, informs Alfalfa that he's been slated to be star player in an upcoming gridiron battle—which is to be staged within the next few hours. Alfalfa winds up winning the game in a total fluke, which Buckwheat and Porky helped cause.

Scotty and his grandfather Gus are the proprietors of a sidewalk lemonade stand. The small operation struggles to compete with the ornate sidewalk diner run by Leonard's father. Leonard is too engrossed in his comic book to pay attention to waiting customers, and when they leave he whines to his father, who gets a policeman to force Gus and Scotty from their corner.
