Eddie Polo est un acteur américain d'origine autrichienne né Edward W. Wyman ou Weimer le 1er février 1875 et mort le 14 juin 1961. Il a tourné dans plus de 80 films et fut dans les années 1920 une star du cinéma d'action en Allemagne.

Biographie

Jeune, il travailla comme artiste de cirque (trapéziste) et commença sa carrière au cinéma en 1913 en tant que cascadeur avant d'avoir régulièrement des rôles deux ans plus tard.

En 1915, il aurait réussi un saut en parachute depuis la Tour Eiffel.

À la fin des années 1920, il était une star du cinéma d'action en Allemagne.

Sa carrière d'acteur prit fin au milieu des années 1940 à Hollywood, et il devint ensuite maquilleur.

Il est le père de l'actrice Malvina Polo et le frère de l'acteur Sam Polo.

This serial introduces the World War II scenario when a masked hero tries to prevent Nazi agents from crippling the US's war effort. The spy ring is led by fifth columnist Jensen, who, with his lieutenant Rudy Thyssen and a network of Nazi saboteurs, is trying to get possession of a top-secret formula the United States had developed for manufacturing synthetic rubber while creating explosive gases and radio-controlled bombs to sabotage the exhausting war effort. Then Police Lieutenant Dan Barton stages a public dismissal from the police department, in order to join the saboteurs ring and learn the secret code they have been using. To further assist his efforts (especially after his superior, the only person to know that Barton is working undercover, is murdered), Barton assumes the secret identity of the Black Commando, a masked man who is wanted both by the villains (who want the secret formula they think he has) and police (who are also searching for Barton for murder). Finally, Barton steals the formula and is captured by Thyssen and put under the protection of the sabotage ring. Joining the gang, he learns of their plans, which he immediately leaks to his best friend and former partner Pat Flanagan and news reporter girlfriend Jean Ashley and, as "The Black Commando", continually frustrates the Nazi plots. After innumerable dangers and lost efforts in trying to decipher the enemy's secret codes, Barton and Flanagan discover the key to the Nazi code, capture the Nazi ring and make sure that the Nazi U-boat which has been waiting to help the Nazis escape is depth-bombed and destroyed.

Lawrence Talbot, un gallois, revient chez son père John Talbot. Il fait la connaissance de Gwenn Conliffe qui tient un magasin d'antiquités et en tombe éperdument amoureux. Une nuit, alors que Larry, Gwenn et une de ses copines Jenny sont en balade dans les bois; Jenny se fait attaquer par un loup! Larry accourt pour la sauver, le loup l'attaque à son tour mais Larry réussit grâce à sa canne en argent à tuer le loup. Malheureusement c'est déjà trop tard, Jenny est morte et Larry a été mordu par le loup et est donc gravement blessé. Le lendemain, la police arrive sur les lieux, ils voient le corps de Jenny, mais pas de trace de l'animal! A la place il y a le corps sans vie d'un homme! La police va chez Talbot, il leur répète que Jenny a été attaquée par un loup et qu'il l'a tué, Lawrence n'a pas tué un homme mais un loup. La police ne le croit pas, elle commence à croire que Larry est peut-être devenu fou. Lawrence Talbot n'y comprend rien, il est sûr d'avoir tué un animal et on veut lui faire croire qu'il a en réalité tué un homme. Le lendemain d'une nuit de pleine lune, Larry se réveille dans son lit avec le goût du sang et avec ses vêtements tout sales, il n'a aucun souvenir de ce qui s'est passé pendant la nuit! A cause des superstitions du village sur les légendes de loups-garous, Larry commence à se demander si il n'a pas tué un loup-garou et par conséquent, vu qu'il a été mordu par cette chose, Larry est persuadé qu'il est devenu lui-même un loup-garou. Lawrence Talbot est-il atteint de lycanthropie ou est-il atteint de démence.

The movie begins with Georgia Drake (Kay Francis) performing on the stage, singing "Gypsy Lullaby" while her daughter, Pamela (Deanna Durbin), watches with her boyfriend Freddie Miller (Lewis Howard). Georgia is an older Broadway actress who was once very famous. Her daughter, Pam, also has great acting skills and hopes to be a successful actress as well. At an after-party celebrating the closing of a play that Georgia was in, Pamela convinces director Sidney Simpson (Samuel S. Hinds) and writer Carl Ober (S.Z. Sakall) to attend one of the plays she is in. After the party ends, Pamela sings "Love is All" with the maid, Sara (Cecilia Loftus), playing piano and her mother listening.

At the beginning of the film, Bill Ralston arrests a bad cowboy named Deadwood and takes him to Judge Williams. Ralston returns to his girl, Sally Dixon, before she is shot in the chest 8 times by Brant, a goon of Deadwood's, and Poe Daggett, an old enemy of Ralston. Ralston shoots Daggett in the knee, and the two run away into the saloon. He sees all of his friends including Sheriff Fin Elder at the Saloon, and they sing him a song. Then Daggett comes behind the Sheriff and tries to kill him, but Poe's brother, Walt, stops him from doing it. Everyone gets into a big fight, and in the end, the only survivors are Bill Ralston and Sheriff Fin Elder.
