Deb Mukherjee (or Mukherji) (Bengali: দেব মুখার্জি) is a Bengali Indian actor. His son is director Ayan Mukerji.
He is part of the famous Mukherjee family which spans four generations. His family has been in the Bollywood industry since the 1940s. His father was Sashadhar Mukherjee, the owner of Filmalaya studios, who produced Love in Shimla (1960). His brothers are Joy Mukherjee, a successful actor in the 60s and Shomu Mukherjee, the husband of actress Tanuja. His nieces are actresses Kajol and her sister Tanisha. Other members of the Mukherjee family include Rani Mukerji and Sharbani Mukherjee, and part of the Mukherjee-Samarth family.

Au Bengale au XIXe siècle. Bhubaneshwar Chaudhary est un zamindar (propriétaire terrien) riche et autoritaire. Désireux d'occuper la première place, tant aux yeux de ses voisins que du colon britannique, il veut faire réaliser une sculpture de la déesse Durga ayant les traits de la reine Victoria. Aucun bengali n'acceptant cette commande, il engage un sculpteur bihari, Brij Bhushan. D'autre part, il souhaite désespérément avoir un héritier et, rendant son épouse responsable de cet échec, il se marie avec une jeune femme, Jashomati, qu'il harcèle sexuellement sans plus de résultat. Cette dernière, traumatisée par les assauts répétés de son mari et par la compétition qui s'installe entre les deux épouses, s'attache de plus en plus à Brij Bhushan.

Naive and easily influenced Ajay Prasad has been married for several years, and lives in remote India with his wife and a son. The family receive an invitation to attend a wedding in Bombay. As Mrs. Prasad and their son are unable to attend, Ajay is asked to attend on his own, which he agrees to do so. Upon arrival in Bombay, he is met at the airport by Ravindranath, who welcomes him, and drives him to his apartment, located in a good upper class locality. The movie is set in Dehradun in north India. The movie opens with the description of the various colleges in the city. A scientist creates a diamond that can focus sun-rays to burn through anything. He hides the diamond in a necklace. Khan ( Kader Khan), in a bid to get the diamond, kills the scientist . The scientist's karate-learning sons, Desh (Deb) and Vijay (Mithun), are separated from each other and their mother. Vijay/Vijay grows up with his karate instructor while Desh is reared by a gypsy camp where he befriends Imran (Mazhar) . Khan tracks down the karate instructor who kills himself before Khan could torture him for information about the scientists missing sons and the necklace. The dying instructor gives the necklace to Vijay who later gives it to his girlfriend Aarti (Yogita) who is the instructor's daughter for safekeeping. Vijay and Aarti raid Khan's illegal go downs and kills many of his men. Desh and Imran have grown up to be master thieves and pickpockets. Khan goes to Aarti house to kill her and steal the necklace. Aarti jumps off the window using a rope ladder . However she loses the necklace which is found by Desh who is attempting a burglary in the same building. Desh realizes that its his mother's necklace where his father has hidden the priceless diamond. Khan and his henchman see him stealing the necklace and raid his house while Vijay arrives to save Aarti . Khan and his henchmen and well as Vijay try to snatch the necklace from Desh , but he escapes and disguises himself as a groom and enters a wedding ceremony. By mistake Desh gets married to Geeta (Kajal), but refuses to acknowledge her as his wife and leaves before even looking at her face. While escaping with the necklace he is chased by the Police and Vijay who shoots him. Injured he seeks asylum at a house which happens to belong to his mother. Khan's henchman try to kill Desh , who is saved by Geeta . Geeta and Desh escape on a train .The villains also enter the train and Desh beats them up and escapes again. Desh takes Geeta to the gypsy camp where she fights with Zora who is also in love with Desh. Vijay attacks Desh at the gypsy camp but Imran saves him. Geeta tells Desh that she is the same girl he got married to and Desh acknowledges her as his wife. Khan comes to know that Desh is the lost elder son of the scientist. He learns that Desh loves Imran like his brother and kills Imran in circumstances where Vijay becomes the suspect. Khan also Kills Aarti and Vijay suspects Desh for the murder. Both brothers are after each other's lives. While fighting over the necklace they realize they are brothers and Khan has killed Imran and Aarti. Desh and Vijay join hands are decide to avenge their father by killing Khan. Khan organizes a Karate competition and invites the world's most renowned Karate fighters and pays them to kill the 2 brothers.

Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki is about an aristocrat, Thakur Rajnath Singh Chouhan (Vijay Anand), who is in love with his mistress Tulsi (Asha Parekh) but forced to marry a strong aristocratic woman named Sanjukta (Nutan). Tulsi sacrifices her life, some time after giving birth to Rajnath's son Ajay, because she wants Sanjukta to have her husband all to herself. Rajnath and Sanjukta send Ajay to boarding school to prevent him from bearing the stigma of being an illegitimate child. Sanjukta and Rajnath have a son, Pratap. Rajnath dies in a horse-riding accident. Sanjukta makes regular visits to the boarding school to see Ajay and, when he grows up, she brings him home. Sanjukta makes Ajay (Vinod Khanna) into not only a very important man but also shields him every time and finally confesses before the public that Ajay is her husband's first son and therefore, is entitled to respect. However, her own son Pratap (Deb Mukherjee) feels slighted and becomes wayward. Some people around them also try to further damage the relations between the two brothers. However, for every sin of the younger brother, Ajay protects him and takes the blame. Sanjukta, not knowing the actual situation, gets disturbed. At one stage, she blames Ajay for every wrong thing which actually has been done by her own son. Ajay leaves the house. But soon thereafter, the situation changes and the men standing in support of Pratap feel deceived as he lets them down. In the climax, these men try to kill Pratap, but Ajay, who comes to know of this plan, rescues his brother. Then, Pratap realizes his half-brother's kindness. He surrenders to Ajay and accepts him as the elder brother. The family reunites.

A chance meeting between an Assistant Scientist, Shekar, and an established stage dancer and singer, Anjana, results in love. While Shekar has a mother who lives separately, Anjana has been orphaned at an early age. Shekar's mom approves of Anjana, and both get married. Anjana stops her involvement in dancing and singing, and both spent the next several months on relative harmony. Then Anjana finds that Shekar is spending more and more time in the laboratory than with her, and she decides to take up dancing and singing, which does not auger well with Shekar. Arguments ensue, and both decide to live separately. When Shekar's mom comes to visit Shekar, both he and Anjana compromise to live together to fool his mother.
