Churni Ganguly (Bengali: চূর্ণী গাঙ্গুলী or Churni Gangopadhyay, born as Churni Banerjee or Churni Bandopadhyay is a Bengali film and Television actress.
After spending her childhood in Kurseong she came to Kolkata and got admitted at the Jadavpur University. While studying at Jadavpur University, she joined a theatre group as an actress. Then she moved to Mumbai and acted in a few television serials. Later she came back to Kolkata and started acting in Bengali films.
Ganguly received Bengal Film Journalists' Association Awards in 2005 in best actress category for the movie Waarish in which she played a single-mother's role.
Churni was a student of Jadavpur University. While at university, in 1987, she started a theatre troupe with Suman Mukhopadhyay and her future husband Kaushik Ganguly. Churni is married to Bengali film director Kaushik Ganguly and has a son – Ujaan Ganguly.

Biographie
Churni Ganguly (born Churni Banerjee) spent her childhood in Kurseong. Her parents were school teachers. She was a student of Dow Hills boarding school. In spite of being a boarding school, Churni and few other girls were allowed to stay at their homes with their parents. Churni's father, whom Churni described as "extremely caring but a rather serious person" encouraged Churni to do well in sports and studies, especially sport. But, Churni did not feel urge to concentrate on sports. Churni was a good student at school but she never thought that she had to secure rankings in examinations.Churni was a student of Jadavpur University. While at university, in 1987, she started a theatre troupe with Suman Mukhopadhyay and her future husband Kaushik Ganguly. Churni is married to Bengali film director Kaushik Ganguly and has a son – Ujaan Ganguly.

The doctor is no one but himself only in disguise. He helps by asking her to test 4 of his friends in 10 various situations how they react. Based on that she has to play a game of cards where she has to mark them. The person who gets maximum points in all 10 rounds will be the winner and she can marry that person. She agrees and shares the same with her sister. She starts playing the game but discovers at the end that if she plays an additional extra round the results are changing. She gets angry with the doctor and marries the person whom she loves most and realizes that we can not get every good virtue in same person. People differs, whatever good things we get inside our beloved people, we have to be happy with it. Her sister also realizes the same and comes back to her husband.

This is a story about four friends, Hari, Shekhar, Ashim, and Sanjay. They studied at the same school. Ashim studied to be a doctor, but decided to never pursue that profession. Sanjay worked for an ad agency but left the job. The rest have never held a job. They started a Bengali band, but they were beaten up by the public at a stage show in North Bengal. They vowed to never perform again. At this point, they start a travelling agency, called 'Gharoa Travels'. On their first trip, they start the journey with only 9 passengers. On the way to the hills, a girl named Ria joins them. The film deals with their journey through North Bengal. The ten tourist and the four operators form an assorted medley of characters. As the journey progresses, their natures are slowly revealed. The film has a style of flash-forwarding to the future juxtaposed with the present, giving the audience a sense of the fates of the characters even as the story progresses.

Saumitra (Kaushik Sen), a brilliant artist (Painter and sculptor), visits Khajuraho to draw inspiration and meets Churni (Churni Ganguly) there through a common friend (Tota) who is an artiste too. Love blossoms between them in Kolkata and though their family and economic standards are poles apart, they decide to marry. Churni breaks away from her rich, blue blood family. On the marriage night Kaushik, to his shock, discovers that Churni is flat-chested. The shock develops into sense of being cheated, anger and finally hatred. Churni first tries to reason and pleads helplessness but after suffering Saumitra beyond a point she seeks divorce. The movie ends with a twist on a day years after their split. But you are better advised to watch it.
