Chinggoy Alonzo (born Ramon Alonzo) is a Filipino actor in theater, movies, and television in the Philippines. He was nominated for FAMAS Award Best Supporting Actor in Ikaw Naman Ang Iiyak (1996). His son Ralion Alonzo is also a Filipino actor now working in Hongkong Disneyland playing multiple role in Disney Revue and lead actor in Mulan, and his son Shark Alonzo, a stage actor who played as Troy Bolton in High School Musical (2006) at Ateneo's Gonzaga Fine Arts Building.

Malen (Angelica Panganiban) is the daughter of Chayong (Hilda Koronel), a widowed intercessor at Quiapo Church in Manila. Selling religious charms as a way of meeting men, Malen falls for Mike (Jericho Rosales), a gigolo and hustler. Mike hustles both for his own survival and that of his son, but also because "he knows essentially he's just strong enough and unscrupulous enough" to do so.
