Chad Alexander Hartigan, né à Nicosie (Chypre) le 31 août 1982, est un cinéaste indépendant et acteur américano-irlandais.
He attended Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach from 1996-2000 and became heavily involved in theater and video production. He graduated and was accepted to the one and only college he applied for, the North Carolina School of the Arts. He attended the filmmaking program there and graduated in 2004 with a BFA in directing and was roommates with Aaron Katz.
In 2006, he appeared in Katz's first film, Dance Party USA, as Sam. He also appeared in the 2013 film "Burnout", directed by friend Lydia Hyslop.
His first feature as director, Luke and Brie Are on a First Date, premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2008 and went on to spawn a Latin American remake in 2013 called "Luna en Leo."
His second feature, This is Martin Bonner, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013 where it won the Best of Next Audience Award. It was also screened at the 2013 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Stockholm International Film Festival, and Torino Film Festival. In 2014, it was awarded the John Cassavetes Award at the Film Independent Spirit Awards.
He is currently in post-production on his third feature, "Morris From America."

Chad Hartigan was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1982. His father is a businessman from Limerick, Ireland, and his mother is a teacher from Sparks, Nevada. He currently resides in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.He attended Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach from 1996-2000 and became heavily involved in theater and video production. Jamie (Erin Fisher) arrives in New York City looking for a friend, who isn't answering her cell phone. Missing her stop on the subway, she asks Charlie (Cris Lankenau) for directions. Catherine vient de perdre à la fois son père, d'un suicide, et son compagnon, parti avec une autre. Elle part se reposer auprès de son amie Virginia, dans une demeure au bord d'un lac. Mais l'été précédent c'était Catherine qui triomphait, fille adulée et gâtée gérant les affaires d'un père artiste de génie, accompagnée de son amant et Virginia qui était seule et pitoyable. Les rôles sont inversés, Catherine a perdu les deux hommes qu'elle aimait, n'arrive plus à peindre, souffre d'insomnie, de douleurs faciales et de boulimie, Virginia est impassible, parfaite, entre le jogging et un voisin sarcastique avec qui elle a une relation sous les yeux hagards de Catherine. Les deux femmes échangent des petites phrases assassines, la détestation et la compassion se mêlent pendant que Catherine sombre dans la dépression.
