B Unnikrishnan (born August 14, 1970) is an Indian film director and screenwriter who works in Malayalam cinema. After completing his post graduation in English Literature, he took M.Phil from M G University with first rank in 1991. He started publishing his writings on literature, politics and culture during the early 90's. He, along with Dr.V C Haris, edited a series of books on postmodernism which was published by DC Books. He started his career as a screenwriter in 2000 by writing Jalamarmaram which won him the Kerala State Award for the best screenplay in 2000. This was followed by Cover Story and two films directed by Shaji Kailas: Sivam and The Tiger. The Tiger is considerted by many as one of the most brilliant suspense thrillers in malayalam. He made his directorial debut in 2006 with the action film Smart City. He went on to direct more films including, Madambi and Grandmaster.

Unnikrishnan is involved in various organisational activities in Malayalam cinema and was the General Secretary of Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) for a long time before resigning from the federation But his resignation was rejected by the General Council of FEFKA and he was asked to continue till the next election in 2013. But, in 2013, the newly elected General Council of FEFKA unanimously elected him again as the General Secretary. Unnikrishnan is a member of the advisory committee of Cine Workers' Welfare Board and the director of Saamskaarika Khemanidhi in Kerala.

A 10-year-old orphan raises his hand against a police officer who commits an act of injustice. Impressed, Sekharan (Murali), the godfather-like gang leader who cares for the poor, gives him shelter. The boy grows up to be Sekharan's most trusted associate, Madhavan (Suresh Gopi). Sekharan's daughter Sarada (Lakshmi Gopalaswami) is married to Sarath Chandran (Manoj K. Jayan), a town planning officer. A real-estate group, Kottooran Group, in collusion with finance minister Reghuram (Shammi Thilakan), wants to forcibly evict over 6,000 families from the land for a Smart-City-type industrial project. Sekharan is able to foil the plans of the Kottoorans with the help of the Chief Minister (Rajan P. Dev). Thus begins the feud between the Kottoorans and Sekharan. The real brain behind the Kottoorans and the person who remained in the background now comes out into the open.
