Ajit Vachani (1951 – 25 August 2003) was an Indian film and television actor. He had worked in many Hindi films as a character actor, including Mr. India (1987), Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1993). In all he acted in over 50 Hindi films, besides three Sindhi movies. He also acted in television serials including, Hasratein, Daane Anaar Ke and Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka.

Sitara (Sanjay Dutt) and Tara (Govinda) are brothers who are notorious, lovable, small-town con-men who are always in trouble with the law. One day when the police are chasing them, they mistakenly shoot one of the most deadly criminals who goes by the name Cobra (Ashish Vidyarthi). They look for cover and find themselves at Major Ram Singh's house (Jackie Shroff) who got Cobra's brother Panther (Gulshan Grover) arrested because he and Cobra tried to steal a very advanced gun. Tara and Sitara go to Singh's house but, since he is an army officer, he first doesn't allow them. Then he does.

Coming from small-town Chiaroscuro to big city Bombay, conman and compulsive liar, Raj Malhotra (Govinda), a lawyer by profession, sets up shop with fellow lawyer, Mohan. He falls in love with Sonam (Sushmita Sen), daughter of a wealthy lawyer Tejpal. He devises a scheme to marry into this wealthy family, and he succeeds. The story opens with the kidnapping of Panna Barve (Tabu), the daughter of Chief Minister Malti Barve (Suhasini Mulay). Vikram Rai (Mangal Dhillon) is a talented singer, unknown however in the singing world. Kalpana (Sonu Walia), the daughter of Kailashnath Sahai (Ajit Vachani) who is the owner of a singing company, is however won over by his singing and marries him against her father's wishes. They have a son whom they name Yash (Bijay Anand). As time passes Kalpana realises that she has married the wrong man. She leaves her husband and son and returns to her father's house. Kalpana's desertion is a real challenge for Vikram and after sending Yash to a hostel, he works hard and eventually becomes the owner of a company. Yash turns out to be a handsome young man in love with a girl, Angel (Kartika Rane), who is the daughter of a music teacher. Yash now feels rejected by both his parents - his mother who is more in love with money and his father who has fallen in love with Asha (Natasha Sinha). After taking training in music from Mr. Joseph, he becomes pop singer and gets a lot of fame. Seeing this his mother and grandfather wish to bring him into their company, but he refuses. In order to take revenge, Kailashnath destroys Vikram. When Yash learns of this, he comes to his father's help. Is Yash able to re-establish his father? Was he able to bring his parents together? This is the climax of Yash.
