John Aden Gillett (born 8 November 1958) is a British actor best known for playing the role of Jack Maddox on the popular BBC series The House of Eliott.
Gillet was born in the city of Aden, Yemen, from which he got his name. He attended Elizabeth College, Guernsey
Aden trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. He has received a number of awards and honors for his work, including the Tree Prize, the Sir Emile Littler Prize, the Vanbrugh Prize and the Radio Prize. He received the Theatre World Award for Best Newcomer on Broadway for his performance in "An Inspector Calls" at the Royale Theatre, Broadway.
He played many roles on the stage, including Mr Banks in a new production of Mary Poppins and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. In films, he appeared in The Winslow Boy and The Borrowers.
He is active in the Theatre Royal at Bath with the Peter Hall Company in numerous productions of Shakespearean plays and other classics, including Antony and Cleopatra, As You Like It, and at The Old Vic in The Tempest. He also appeared in Noël Coward's Blithe Spirit, and Private Lives, and in George Bernard Shaw's Man and Superman.
On television, he appeared as Robin Hood in Ivanhoe and as Peter Townsend, Princess Margaret's forbidden love, in The Queen's Sister. He also appeared in Harry Enfield's Television Programme.
He is married to actress Sara Stewart. They have two children.

The drama opens with the disclaimer "Some of the following is based on fact. And some isn't". When Archbishop Fisher of the Church of England refuses her request to allow her and divorced war hero Peter Townsend, an equerry to her sister, to wed in a religious ceremony, and her brother-in-law and confidant Prince Philip advises her she will lose all her material possessions if they engage in a civil union, Margaret ends the relationship and plunges into a hedonistic lifestyle that frequently draws headlines in the press. She finds herself partnered with Tony Armstrong-Jones at a party that dissolves into an evening of sexual shenanigans, and she and the impoverished photographer begin to meet frequently for clandestine encounters in his dingy flat. L'histoire débute en Allemagne, en 1922, au commencement du tournage de Nosferatu. F. W. Murnau part en Tchécoslovaquie filmer les scènes principales de son film.
