The Movie From the Future is a movie within a movie. The set-up is you are watching an Unsolved Mysteries type program about a video tape found in a crater with a note reading "From Future." Most of the movie consists of the contents of the tape with various experts breaking in to offer their opinions on the validity of the tape or whether it is a hoax. The contents of the tape seem to be a made-for-television feature from the future about inter-species love, futuritistic inventors, and plans to destroy the world by aliens and the robots attempting to thwart them.

The original synopsis of the film was published in the Moving Picture World as follows: "Professor Dix has won fame as a scientist and has collected many objects of Egyptian ware, centuries old, that arouse the enthusiasm of his associates. Even Jack Thornton, an active, go-ahead young businessman, is interested in the professor's home, but although he tries to pretend it is Egyptology which interests him, the professor's fair young daughter is really the lodestone. Jack decides to win the old man's respect by posing as an Egyptologist himself. To start his collection, he purchases a mummy at an auction sale, and takes it home expecting that later he can make a great hit with his sweetheart's father, by presenting it to him as a gift. While the mummy is in Jack's room, a live electric wire is by accident brought in contact with it. The body has been so perfectly mummified, that the electric current is all that is necessary to ignite the vital spark, and Jack is amazed to see dancing forth from the case which he thought contained only unattractive rags and bones, a beautiful Egyptian princess. As soon as she is released, the mummy makes violent love to Jack, and causes his sweetheart to quarrel with him (for how can a plain businessman explain the presence in his room of a beautiful barbarian?). When her love is spurned, the visitor from the distant past avenges herself by having Jack made into a mummy and placed in the case in her stead. Her heart relents, however, in time to save him from being 'cut up' by the professor, who with the sharp knife, starts to investigate the contents of the mummy case. But all ends happily when Jack's plain statements of the seemingly impossible facts are proved true by the professor. Jack is reunited to his sweetheart, and the professor, being a widower, also an ardent admirer of everything antique, leads the recreated Egyptian lady to the altar, in spite of the fact that there is a difference of several thousand years in their ages.

Lors d'une mission d'exploration en Antarctique, une équipe de scientifiques découvrent d'étranges plantes, véritables fossiles vivants. Mais avant d'arriver à destination l'avion doit faire escale à Gow Island, petite station météorologique pour faire le plein. Lorsque celui-ci se pose en catastrophe sur le tarmac, il ne reste plus que le pilote en état de choc, et la cargaison dans la soute. Le lieutenant Charlie Brown qui vient de prendre le commandement de l'île va devoir résoudre ce mystère, mais il va aussi devoir faire face à un autre problème, les plantes ramenées sur l'île s'avèrent terriblement dangereuses, mortelles.

At a secret aviation research station in the English countryside, an international group of scientists are working on the prototype of a revolutionary new aircraft, known as the M7, capable of flying at up to 2,000 miles per hour. The project leader Michael Heathley (Donald) is so wrapped up with the M7 that his wife Lydia (Calvert) feels neglected and that she is being sidelined in favour of her husband's work. At a social gathering she strikes up a conversation with Heathley's colleague Alex Leon (Lom), and the pair are soon circling one another. Meanwhile, Heathley is desperate to test the M7, but is continually stonewalled by facility director Carrington (Maurice Denham).

After predicting one will hit California within the next 24 hours to a uniformly skeptical Gov. Cheney (Raymond Greenleaf) and state-level political and civil defense officials, the earthquake does materialize and does immense damage to northern parts of the state. Now with the support and funding necessary from the reformed skeptics, the team works on further predictions and comes to the conclusion that a wave of earthquakes are pending in and around the southwestern United States. They trace the epicenter of the pending disaster to an area beneath the Carlsbad Caverns and descend to a hitherto unexplored level.

Le personnage principal (Gary / Gavin / Gabriel) est toujours lié à Melissa. Ils sont d'abord acteur / attachée de presse, scénariste / actrice puis créateur de jeux vidéo / épouse. Melissa semble connaître la vérité sur ce qu'est réellement Gary, et une femme apparaît à chaque fois (sous le nom de S). S veut ramener G dans sa réalité en le forçant à oublier le monde qu'il a en fait créé (« Oblivio Acebit » : L'oubli arrive). Des symboles 9 apparaissent tout au long du film : un post-it « Chercher les neuf », il est impossible à Gary de tirer autre chose que 9 avec deux dés, il apparaît aussi sur les tatouages de Sierra sous la forme du chiffre romain IX.
