Masi (Nakul) is an orphan living in a lower middle class colony. The movie opens to a school where a boy recites before the school. Another boy is seen running to school as he is late. The teacher punishes him comparing to the boy who recited earlier, who is his younger step-brother. Enmity grows in the older boy as he is always compared to this younger brother. The younger brother burns the photo of the father of the older one as he was the reason for his defeat in the school's kabadi match. In retaliation, the older brother throws the younger one into a well. Watching him get drowned in the well, the older brother runs away from the village.

When a young boy Saravanan is killed by rowdy - and aspiring politician - Dhanasekaran(Sayaji Shinde), his distraught mother(Vinaya Prasad) is ready to kill herself. But she is stopped by a man Mani Shankar(Vijayakumar) who promises her that her son will be reincarnated and meet her 30 years hence. The only condition is that the mother must remain inside Vaitheeswaran temple, praying to be reunited with her son. 30 years later, her wait catches the attention of the public, who are curious to see if Saravanan shows up. Dr.Bala(Sarathkumar), who has no belief in reincarnation, wishes to treat her while Dhanasekharan, who is now a politician and eyeing the CM seat, knows that Saravanan's arrival could derail his plans. Armed with a computer-generated photo of how Saravanan would look like now, both Dhanasekharan and Bala go looking for him, when Bala realises that he is indeed the reincarnation of Saravanan and what happens next froms the climax of the story.

The movie opens to a prologue, where King Parasbaram (Radha Ravi), ruler of a small rival kingdom and the nine ministers of the great Empire of Vikata Nagaram are on their way to a Chinese consulate's mansion. They are warmly welcomed by General Wang (Wilson Ng) and courtesan Hong (Vivienne Tseng) once they reach there. The Chinese consulate, headed by Chao Gong Gong (Nickson Cheng), wishes to engage in trade with the people of the Kingdom of Vikata Nagaram and reap the benefits. Thus, the ministers strike a deal with Parasbaram and the ministers to help them, promising them a huge share of the benefits. One of the ministers, Nandivarma Rayar (Joe Malloori) objects to this, saying that he doesn't want to betray the King and his people for money. Chao Gong Gong realising that he is of no use to the plan, has courtesan Hong kill him with a poisoned needle from her hair.
