Synopsis
Antonio Peluffo (Totò) et son comparse Camillo (Nino Taranto) sont deux sympathiques vauriens. Ensemble, ils commettent de menues escroqueries, destinées essentiellement à financer le coûteux établissement scolaire que fréquente Diana Peluffo (Estella Blain), fille d'Antonio. Le commissaire Malvasia (Ernesto Calindri), ancien camarade d'école d'Antonio, n'est pas très regardant sur ces arnaques jusqu'au jour où son fils Franco tombe amoureux de Diana.Acteurs

Oncle Antonio et oncle Peppino sont des propriétaires terriens aux alentours de Naples. Ce sont des gens simples partout connus comme les frères Caponi. Le fils de leur sœur Lucia, Gianni, étudiant en médecine à l'Université de Naples, tombe amoureux d'une ballerine et actrice de théâtre. Quand celle-ci doit déménager à Milan pour son travail, il la suit à l'insu de sa famille. Seul Mezzacapa, le voisin des Caponi, est au courant et prévient sa famille. Totò, Peppino et Lucia partent donc à Milan pour trouver Gianni et le convaincre de quitter l'actrice pour mieux continuer ses études.

Le commandeur Bruscatelli, avant d'être mis en prison, laisse aux cousins Posalaquaglia une lettre de change qu'ils donnent à Temistocle Bisogni en compensation des dégâts qu'ils ont commis dans son bureau de tabac. Cette lettre subit une opposition, passe de mains en mains avant de revenir chez Bisogni qui la passe à Posalaquaglia en échange d'un faux témoignage. Les deux sont arrêtés et retrouvent Bruscatelli, qui renouvelle la lettre de change avec une autre équivalente.

Brigitte et Otello se sont rencontrés lors d'un congrès médical en Espagne. C'est le coup de foudre et ils se marient. À leur retour en Italie Brigitte est fraichement accueillie par les deux tantes d'Otello qui lui reprochent d'être étrangère. Voulant continuer son activité professionnelle Brigitte est appelée chez un marquis dont le fessier a été criblé de balles par un mari jaloux. Il s'ensuit un quiproquo au cours duquel le marquis est subjugué par la beauté de la jeune femme mais refuse de se faire soigner par elle en raison de son sexe. Les deux tantes d'Otello intriguées par les absences répétées de Brigitte engage deux détectives privés pour confondre la jeune femme et finissent par prévenir Otello qui dans une crise de jalousie s'empare d'un revolver et s'en va retrouver le marquis. Mais tout rentrera dans l'ordre et la morale sera sauve.

Province of Rome, the early postwar years. Antonio, an unemployed middle-aged, married a rich woman, Teresa, who bullies: he lives in the countryside with his wife and daughter Valeria with the earnest and always without a penny in his pocket. Valeria makes the acquaintance of Albert, a young journalist, came to the country with the purpose of approaching and interviewing the bandit Ignatius said, "The Press", feared throughout the region for its daring enterprises. Ignatius accepts and Toto back home. After the wedding of Valeria and Alberto, Teresa's husband out of the house, warning him not to come back until you have made a stand. Toto, who has never worked, is reduced to make the "boy" in the workshop of Peppino.
