Synopsis
Matthew (Emory Cohen) is a teenage boy in New York who has therapy together with his father Frank (Steve Schirripa), because of their troubled communication. The boy runs away during their session. Angela (Sharon Angela), his mother, is worried but Frank is more concerned with his radio show, and whether his techs got his vodka. He proceeds to use a great deal of cocaine as well before the show begins. Matthew goes to a park where a lot of homeless people are congregated, where he is picked up by a couple. They give him alcohol and drugs, after which the woman has sex with Matthew while the man watches.Acteurs

Issu d'une famille très aisée, n'ayant jamais manqué de rien, Jim Bennett est professeur agrégé de littérature contemporaine et il tente d'enseigner veinement l'existentialisme à des étudiants qui semblent plus préoccupés à récolter leurs points que des bribes de culture littéraire. Dramaturge qui s'ignore, il a commis en 2007 un succès littéraire qui lui apporta une certaine notoriété. Rien depuis ne lui apporte de l'excitation sinon les jeux de hasard dans lesquels il puise l'adrénaline, carburant nécessaire pour la poursuivre de son style de vie suicidaire, le seul qui donne du sens à son existence. Surendetté, il doit des sommes considérables — qu'il n'a nullement l'intention de rembourser — aux patrons des pègres caucasienne, afro-américaine et coréenne, qui lui vouent une certaine sympathie. Certains se montrent cependant menaçant envers sa mère et sa petite amie, une de ses élèves, la seule qui semble démontrer un talent littéraire certain et qui finance ses études en travaillant comme serveuse dans la salle de jeu clandestine de la pègre coréenne.

Condamné par la Cour martiale, le Lieutenant-Général Eugene R. Irwin de l'U.S. Army (Robert Redford) est tenu responsable de la mort de huit soldats. À la suite de ce verdict, il est condamné à purger une peine dans une prison militaire de haute sécurité appelée Le Château et dirigée par le Colonel Winter (James Gandolfini).
