Ajouter à une liste de filmsSantosh Subramaniam is a 2008 Indian Tamil romantic comedy film directed by M. Raja and produced by Kalpathi S. Agoram. The film stars Jayam Ravi and Genelia D'Souza in the lead roles, while Prakash Raj, Geetha and Sayaji Shinde play supporting roles. It is a remake of the successful Telugu film, Bommarillu (2006). The film revolves around a father and son relationship; the father's dotes on his son, who resents the same. The son's choices and his ambitions to achieve something in life are subdued by his father.
The film entered production in July 2007 and in addition to being shot in India, was also shot at the South Island of New Zealand. The film's soundtrack was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, who retained the tunes he composed for Bommarillu.
Santosh Subramaniam was released on 11 April 2008 during the Tamil New Year festival. The film was positively received and commercially successful; critics praised the performances of Ravi, D'Souza and Prakash Raj. The film won the third prize for the Best Film at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards of 2008. It was nominated for four awards at the 56th Filmfare Awards South, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, but did not win in any category.
Synopsis
A baby takes his first steps on a beach while the father supports him. The narrator states that it is right for a father to support his child in his infancy, but questions whether the father should continue to hold the child’s hand even after he is grown up. The son, Santosh (Jayam Ravi)—who is now 24 years old— becomes abusive while drunk, expressing contempt towards his father, Subramaniam (Prakash Raj). He complains that his father gives him more than what he asks for, and still chooses his clothes and hairstyle. Santosh vows that he will become an independent man, and select a career and future wife for himself.Acteurs

The film begins with a baby taking his first steps on a beach supported by his father. A handicapped Krishna (Suriya) arrives at Mumbai. He, along with a taxi driver (Soori) travel along Mumbai to look for his brother. He then meets a close friend of Raju and tells Krishna that Raju is Raju Bhai (Suriya). He then meets JK and he tells his experience with Raju Bhai and tells him that Raju could have killed him but spared JK. Krishna finally meets Karim Bhai (Joe Malloori) and he tells Krishna that Raju and Chandru (Vidyut Jamwal) were inseparable friends and were growing dons as they emerging in the underworld their enemies too grows. Then a new Commissioner plans to clean the city and kills a few people of Raju's gang. Raju then retaliates this by kidnapping the Commissioner's daughter Jeeva (Samantha) and keeps her as a hostage for a day and when Raju goes to leave her back she tells that she actually doesn't want to go and doesn't want to marry because she didn't love anyone. Both of them then develop love. Things go well until Raju and Chandru invoke the wrath of Imran Bhai (Manoj Bajpai) who is a bigger and more powerful don than them and Chandru keeps chanting what Imran says to him that Imran would 'shoot them like pigs'. Raju then gives Chandru a surprise by capturing Imran. Chandru becomes thrilled about it and gives Raju a surprise by getting him a new car. Raju then meets Jeeva inside. Chandru tells him that he had given Raju a surprise and tells him to stay away for seven days with Jeeva. Raju and Jeeva have a blast. When Raju comes back he sees Chandru murdered in a ghastly manner. A frustrated Raju goes in search of the killers is also shot by his own man, Amar. Krishna then becomes worried. At that very time Amar gets to know that Krishna was looking for him and tries to kill Krishna. Then it is revealed that Krishna is Raju. Raju then fights them and kills Amar. He then goes to find Jackie in a horse race. Jackie tells him to ask Johny. Raju then finds Johny in a shopping mall and Johny tells him that they along with Imran had plotted to kill Chandru when Raju was away. A disappointed Raju kills Johny. Raju then kills one more betrayer in a fight and shoots him. Then Imran's men kidnap Karim Bhai's daughter. When Raju gets there Karim tells him it wasn't his daughter, it was Jeeva. Raju finally battles them and at last kills Imran Bhai. Raju, after rescuing Jeeva, reunites with her and happily leave Mumbai.

Shekhar (Arvind Swamy) est le fils de parents hindous traditionnels dans un village côtier du Tamil Nadu. Étudiant en journalisme à Bombay, Shekhar rentre régulièrement à la maison pour rendre visite à sa famille. Au cours de l'un de ses voyages, il rencontre Shaila Banu (Manisha Koirala). Timide, Shaila fuit Shekhar, mais les efforts constants de Shekhar pour la séduire finissent par être couronnés de succès et elle en tombe amoureuse. Les deux pères refusent l'idée d'un mariage. Le père de Shekhar lui ordonne de trouver une autre compagne et le père de Shaila veut la marier au plus vite avec un musulman. Le père de Shekhar menace son fils de ne plus jamais lui adresser la parole s'il épouse cette musulmane. Sous le coup de la colère, Shekhar repart pour Bombay. Suivent plusieurs semaines de relation épistolaire entre Shekhar et Shaila qui finit par s'enfuir de la maison pour rejoindre Shekhar à Bombay où ils se marient en hâte.
