Ozhimuri (Malayalam: ഒഴിമുറി, English: A Document of Separation) is a 2012 Malayalam-language Indian film written by Jeyamohan and directed by Madhupal, starring Lal, Mallika, Asif Ali, Bhavana and Shweta Menon in lead roles. The original music and background score of the film are composed by Bijibal. The film opened to critical acclaim but did not fare well at the box office. It was official selection in the Indian Panorama section of the 43rd International Film Festival of India.

Synopsis
'Ozhimuri' is based on the story of the book 'Uravidangal' by veteran bilingual writer Jeyamohan, which is, the matrilineal system that prevailed in the Nair community in the erstwhile southern Travancore. The advantage of the matrilineal system was that the property was enjoyed by successors of the women in the family. The women were educated and bold. They enjoyed freedom in all respects. The mother in the family was stronger than the father. But by the end of this system, in the 1940s, women lost all their powers and soon became 'slaves' in the hands of a feudal male-dominated society. The movie exposes the complexities of a period of transition from matrilineal to patrilineal.Acteurs

Kalidasan (Lal) works in the state archaeological department in Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum) and is a food lover. His only companion is his cook, Babu (Baburaj). Manu Raghav (Asif Ali) is Kalidasan's nephew who comes to stay with him, while looking for a job. Kalidasan has a normal life until he gets a mis-dialled phone call from Maya (Shweta Menon), a dubbing artiste living with her friend Meenakshi (Mythili). Maya rings to order a special Dosa (named "Thattil Kutti Dosa" in the film) from a restaurant, but gets Kalidasan instead. Their conversations do not go well at first, but a long-distance romance develops due to their common interest—cooking and food. Kalidasan is a born gourmet while Maya is indulging in culinary activities in memory of her dead mother. Kalidasan starts to let Maya into the secrets of baking with a multi-layered cake called "Joan's Rainbow".

Radhakrishnan (Dileep) is dysfunctionally brought up like a girl by his grandmother (Sukumari) who wanted a granddaughter. There by, he becomes effeminate and milquetoast. She calls him Radha, which becomes his nickname. Radha's father Divakaran (Lal) goes to jail for a murder that he accidentally commits. Sunny (Kunchacko Boban), a young priest, is put in charge of a church in a rural area. The church runs an old age home which is sponsored by Vavachan (Hareesh Peradi). There Sunny meets Sister Sophie (Miya George). The two working sincerely in the old age home and in the process discover the motives behind Vavachan's philanthropy. He has an agreement with the home that he gets the unclaimed dead bodies for the medical college run by his son (Krishna Kumar), which is always short of cadavers. Meanwhile Sunny meets Animol, the daughter of the church grave digger. She is a bright student who aspires to follow in the footsteps of Mother Theresa but due to financial troubles is unable to continue her education. Sunny offers to help her by getting an admission in a nursing college in Bangalore. Animol, while helping out to take care of an elderly woman from the old age home hospitalised in Vavachan's hospital witnesses her being smothered to death by Vavachan's son. Unable to hide her burden she confesses to Sophie and Sunny who advises her to reveal it to the police. But afraid for her life and her father Animol refuses and prepares to leave for Bangalore.

The film starts with a message "The aged aren't always wise, nor do the elderly always understand justice" Job 32:9. The story is narrated by the communist leader (TG Ravi) who witnessed it. The story is set in 1900 in Munnar in British occupied India. Harrison is a British businessman who comes to Munnar to cultivate tea. Harrison finds an able boy amidst his workers and names him 'Iyob'(Job). Harrison holds Iyob close and helps him get married to Annamma (Reenu Mathews). Harrison's wife leaves him, later he sees Kazhali (Lena) and becomes interested in her. When he finds out Kazhali's relation with Thacho, one of his servants. Iyob kills Thacho after Harrison order him to. Afterwards, Harrison takes Kazhali as his mistress and she becomes pregnant. In the time of the First World War, Harrison's business gets affected and he leaves for Britain but dies on the way. Knowing this Iyob throws Kazhali out of the house and takes over all assets of Harrison.
