Synopsis

OFF WORLD est l’histoire de Lucky, un jeune Philippin, adopté enfant par une famille canadienne. Lucky grandit heureux à Toronto, mais vient le moment où il se pose la question de ses origines. Il part pour Smokey Mountain, l’immense bidonville de Manille, un des plus vastes des Philippines.

Years after volcanic mud flow (lahar) covers a town in Pampanga, Pol and his co workers dig up the coffin of his daughter. The remains of two-year-old Marikit did not show any signs of decay. The film begins and ends in an airport during a father and son’s transit flight from Tel Aviv to Manila. Short Eyes is set in an unnamed prison in New York City, whose inmates are predominantly black or Puerto Rican.
