The Moving True Story of a Woman Ahead of Her Time (West Frisian title: Nynke) is a 2001 Dutch drama film in the West Frisian language. It is written and directed by Pieter Verhoeff.

The film received a Golden Film (75,000 visitors) and Platinum Film in 2001. It also won two Golden Calves.

The film is set in May 1940 in and around the city of Rotterdam, where the young bakers assistant (and aspiring amateur boxer) Vincent de Graaf meets the wealthy Eva von Heerle, the daughter of German refugees who've fled Nazi Germany. As the two reach Rotterdam, an ultimatum is delivered to the Dutch troops defending the city in which they are summoned to surrender immediately or face destruction, the Dutch soldiers refuse and Rotterdam is bombed, changing the future for everyone involved.

Stijn (Barry Atsma) is a rich, handsome and selfish advertising executive who lives in a hedonistic world. Everything revolves around him. Pendant la guerre de Sécession, après la terrible bataille d'Antietam, le jeune colonel nordiste Robert Gould Shaw se voit confier le tout premier bataillon de soldats noirs volontaires après que Lincoln a prononcé leur émancipation. Après de longs mois de préparation au combat et d'attente, Shaw, ne souhaitant pas voir son régiment de couleur réduit à de simples tâches en périphérie des combats, obtient l'ordre d'aller au front. Shaw, à la tête du 54e régiment du Massachusetts, est alors volontaire pour prendre d'assaut le Fort Wagner (Caroline du Sud), réputé imprenable. Durant l’assaut, une grande partie des hommes du 54e périt (le colonel Robert Gould Shaw compris) mais est également remarquée pour sa bravoure.
