Synopsis
In early 20th century Georgia, in a distant Georgian village, a worker appears from the English telegraph company Hughes. He faithfully takes care of telephone poles, likes to box, and stands for the honor of women and his homeland. Then, he falls in love with the most beautiful woman in the village, having become an enemy to her brother, a Bolshevik. Love inspires the Englishman, and he remains in Georgia even after all Hughes employees have been recalled home. Frustrated with insults to his country made by the Bolsheviks, the man is enraged and destroys a Bolshevik banner. He is then forced to flee his property, to the three meter territory of a telephone pole, which was purchased by the British government. In these three meters he will live in expectation of love, and, as in turns out, his own senseless death.Acteurs

Tout commence à Paris, en 1995, par la découverte d'un manuscrit. Anton Gogladze (Jean-Yves Gautier), environ 50 ans, galeriste géorgien à Paris, fait la rencontre de Marcelle Ichak (Micheline Presle), environ 70 ans, nièce du grand cuisinier français Pascal Ichak (Pierre Richard) qui fut le célèbre cuisinier du président de la République géorgienne peu avant 1920. Anton Gogladze connaît bien le livre de cuisine qu'a écrit Pascal Ichak lors de son long séjour en Géorgie, il le connaît bien car il a passé les 7 premières années de son enfance en Géorgie auprès d'une mère morte jeune mais qui semblait passionnée de cuisine et surtout de la cuisine de ce livre, un livre qu'il a conservé. La mère d'Anton Gogladze était la princesse Cécilia Abachidze, morte relativement jeune dans le milieu des années 1940, tombée au pied de l'escalier de la maison où ils habitaient. Et Marcelle Ichak, qui ne parle ni ne lit le géorgien, lui demande de faire la traduction en français des parties écrites en géorgien d'une épaisse liasse de vieux manuscrits et nombreux courriers de la main de Pascal Ichak et de celle de Cécilia Abachidze qui fut sa compagne. Marcelle lui indique aussi que cela va peut-être l'intéresser plus qu'il ne pense car on trouve fréquemment dans ce manuscrit une personne portant son nom de famille, Gogladze, donc probablement son père, un officier de l'Armée Rouge géorgienne.

Frustrated butcher Fred Ramsden (Windsor Davies) and his dim electrician mate Ernie Bragg (Jack Douglas) happily head off for a fishing trip while their respective wives Sylvia (Liz Fraser) and Vera (Patricia Franklin) look forward to their health farm holiday. Once at the caravan site of Major Leafe (Kenneth Connor), Fred starts making eyes at a couple of gorgeous campers, Carol (Sherrie Hewson) and Sandra (Carol Hawkins). However, as Ernie talks in his sleep and any infidelities are likely to be repeated in the marital bed after their holiday, Fred is despondent. Professor Roland Crump (Kenneth Williams) teams with Roman expert Anna Vrooshka (Elke Sommer) in an archaeological dig at the site. Arthur Upmore (Bernard Bresslaw) and his wife Linda (Patsy Rowlands) are saddled with her mother Daphne (Joan Sims) and her vulgar mynah bird. Arthur is caught in a compromising position with blonde babe Norma Baxter (Adrienne Posta) whose husband Joe (Ian Lavender) is lumbered with their giant wolfhound. After a few pints with the amused pub landlord (David Lodge), Fred and Ernie discover that the caravan site is riddled with excavation holes. Daphne is perturbed by the discovery of her estranged husband, Henry Barnes (Peter Butterworth) living a downtrodden life as the camp's odd-job man, despite having won the pools. Major Leafe is determined to give the place a boost and arranges an evening cabaret for the caravanners but a mix-up over the phone secures a stripper, Veronica (Jenny Cox), rather than the singer he wanted. With Carol and Sandra having hooked up with archaeology students, Bob (Brian Osborne) and Clive (Larry Dann) Fred and Ernie pick up Maureen (Diana Darvey) and Sally (Georgina Moon), a couple of beauties from the village. Some wet paint, the rain, the collapsing tunnels and their wives soon bring their planned night of passion to a halt.

Stucker, Minor and Pataki are cast as a gay fashion designer, a horny soul brother (catchphrase - "this is the best lookin' piece I've seen in a long time!") and an incompetent impressionist, respectively. The three escape their mental asylum and sexually assault their way into a girls' school. Their broad, knockabout performances attempt to keep the film's (fairly objectionable) content amusing rather than disturbing. The entire female cast comprises softcore porn models (mostly drawn from men's magazines of the era) who don skimpy karate costumes and violently turn the tables on their tormentors.
