Texas Rangers Ride Again is a 1940 American Western film directed by James P. Hogan and written by William R. Lipman and Horace McCoy. The film stars Ellen Drew, John Howard, Akim Tamiroff, May Robson, Broderick Crawford, Charley Grapewin and John Miljan. The film was released on December 13, 1940, by Paramount Pictures. It was a sequel to The Texas Rangers.

Synopsis

Lorsque des milliers de têtes de bétail sont volées au ranch "White Sage" au début des années 1930, les Texas Rangers sont de nouveaux appelés à la rescousse. Grâce à l'un de leurs agents, les Texas Rangers vont infiltrer le gang de voleurs, et tenter de récupérer le trésor des fermiers.

Peu avant 1870, en pleine guerre de Sécession, deux compagnies ferroviaires rivales tentent, par tous les moyens, la construction de la ligne de chemin de fer qui traversera les États-Unis d'Est en Ouest, reliant l'océan Atlantique à l'océan Pacifique. La première, l’Union Pacific part de l’Atlantique. Le train de cette compagnie est conduit par Monahan aidé par sa fille Mollie qui s’occupe de l’intendance. Jeff Butler, agent du gouvernement, assure l’ordre et la protection du convoi. Le deuxième projet, le Central Pacific, est soutenu par un politicien véreux Barrows qui utilise tous les procédés pour retarder l’Union Pacific afin d’effectuer la plus grande portion de ligne de chemin de fer. Un sabotage sur l’Union Pacific met en cause Dick Allen un ami de longue date de Jeff Butler. Leur amitié va être mise à rude épreuve leurs intérêts étant contraires, ils sont de plus tous deux amoureux de Mollie. Après bien des péripéties (sabotages, vol de la paye des ouvriers, attaque d’indiens, bagarres…), Dick meurt tué par Campeau, le principal artisan des sabotages, au cours d’un ultime guet-apens. Le dernier tronçon de voie enfin posé, Jeff et Mollie vont pouvoir enfin s’avouer leur amour.

The intended wedding of Captain Hugh "Bulldog" Drummond to Phyllis Clavering at her villa in Switzerland is stopped short (once again) when someone murders the Swiss policeman who is guarding their wedding presents. The killer makes off with their prize possession, a synthetic diamond, made by a secret process by Professor Bernard Goodman, the father of their good friend Gwen Longworth. A guest, Sir Raymond Blantyre, head of the Metropolitan Diamond Syndicate, disappears at the same time, and Drummond suspects that Sir Raymond, who has the most to lose if Professor Goodman proceeds with his plans to publish his secret process, has something to do with the theft. He leaves Phyllis and chases back to England. Colonel Nielsen, of Scotland Yard, as usual scoffs at Drummond's suspicions and insists that a man as respected as Sir Raymond could not possibly be involved in such a crime. But, as usual, he has Drummond followed just in the event he turns up something unexpected. An explosion that wrecks Goodman's house, and apparently kills him, makes Drummond more positive that the diamond king has again resorted to murder to protect his business. He follows Professor Botulian, a lifelong rival of Goodman's, whom he believes to be involved in the affair. His hunt leads him to a lonely house on the outskirts of London where he finds Goodman a prisoner. Before they can escape, Drummond and Goodman are joined by Tenny (E. E. Clive), his valet, and Phyllis, who are also (as usual) being held by the crooks.

Unfortunately for the professor, someone else also wanted the riches and Drummond once again is dragged into the plot as the code book is stolen, Professor Downie is murdered, and Phyllis is kidnapped.
