Synopsis
Quelque temps après avoir été démobilisé, Bill Seacroft, marié à la délicieuse Ruth, est victime des agissements de Miriam, sa jeune belle-sœur, qui n'a pas trouvé mieux que de faire circuler une pétition l'appelant à se présenter aux élections sénatoriales. Chose d'autant plus inenvisageable que son beau-père, le terrible juge Wilkins, est déjà candidat...Acteurs

New York theater producer Alex Conway (Charles Coburn) travels with composer Paul Merrick (Bing Crosby) to Lawford College, Paul's alma mater, where one of his musicals is being revived by the students. The current campus hero is handsome athlete Jefferson Blake (Robert Stack) so Katherine Holbrook (Nancy Olson), class valedictorian and chairman of the welcoming committee for returning alumni, asks Paul to work in a phrase about Jeff in one of his songs. Major Euclid Cameron (Roland Culver), an officer of the Southern Army during the Civil War, writes his memoirs about the hardships of battle right after the war. It is set in Indiana, at the time of Reconstruction, and the Major's finances are not in order.
