Amal (Faten Hamama) is the wife of Ahmed (Ahmed Mazhar) who manages a textile factory. One day, she receives a threatening letter directed at Ahmed. The letter reveals that Ahmed committed a murder; he killed a teller to steal the factory's money. Amal remembers that her husband had come to her telling her that he had lost his money, and weeks later had restored his money. One of the factory workers (Salah Mansour) meets Amal and confirms what the letter said, claiming that he witnessed the crime.

A psychotic psychiatrist has killed a young man, `Abbas, and plans a conspiracy. He convinces his friend and patient, Sharif, that he had killed `Abbas after hypnotizing him. He also orders Sharif to give him the money that `Abbas's wife should receive, all to make Sharif seem like the suspect. Sharif is believed to have killed `Abbas for the money, and is shockingly arrested during his wedding.

Faten Hamama plays Sawsan, a middle-class orphan who meets Adel (Omar Sharif), a rich man, at an auction hall. He tries to approach her but she refuses him. As a result, he eventually marries her. His playboy friends, Shafeek and Malak (among others), feel uncomfortable with Sawsan being around, as she condemns the style of life that they lead, and therefore Adel orders her to stay at home. While staying alone at home, Sawsan works on some land Adel owns, with the help of one of Adel's old friends, Mustafa (Omar El-Hariri). Adel's playboy friends try to destroy Adel's marriage by telling him that Sawsan is having an affair with his friend, Mustafa. Adel's friends try to exploit Adel for his fortunes and convince him to sell his land. Mustafa talks to Adel and convinces him not to sell his land to his exploiter friends. Adel realizes his mistake, expels his friends, and returns to his wife.

The film takes place in Palestine and portrays the lives of freedom fighters trying to free their village from the control of the Israelis.
