Synopsis
After Slip discovers a spiritualist in the neighborhood, he enlists the boys to investigate. They discover that she is a fake and working for Margo the Medium, a radio star who has convinced Sach and Whitey that ghosts exist. They go to her place using Louie as a decoy. While she is busy trying to connect to Louie's dead uncle, the rest of the boys investigate the house. A real ghost, Edgar, befriends Sach and helps him investigate as well. Although the others cannot see Edgar, he does help them in times of crisis and helps them uncover Margo's scam.Acteurs

All of the boys have just graduated from school where they learned exterminating, except for Sach who flunked out. They set up their new business in a corner of Louie's Sweet Shop and quickly get a job to remove ghosts from an old abandoned mansion. Upon arrival they discover weird events taking place, such as lights turning on when a match is lit, and a disappearing organ. Soon they discover that these events are not the actions of ghosts, but of a mad scientist who is conducting illegal experiments in the basement.

Une bande d'adolescents s'efforce avec difficulté d'organiser le mariage de Jack et de Betty. Jack a acheté une maison pour s'y installer avec son épouse après le mariage, le prix était inférieur à celui du marché en raison de rumeurs sur la demeure mitoyenne réputée hantée. Emil, un espion nazi, est furieux que Tony, l'un de ses comparses, ait vendu cette maison à Jack. Tony propose à Jack de la racheter, Jack accepte, Tony lui donne alors un carton portant son adresse où on peut le joindre en cas de problème : il s'agit de la maison "hantée". Jack se rend à l'hôtel avec sa jeune épouse et fait tomber le carton que lui a donné Tony. Les adolescents ramassent le carton et croient alors qu'il s’agit de l'adresse de la nouvelle maison de Jack et Betty. Ils vont s'empresser de la meubler en empruntant les meubles de la première maison. Sur ces entrefaits une autre voisine de la "maison hantée" a prévenu la police d'allers et venues bizarres chez ses voisins, elle prévient également Jack qui décide de s'y rendre afin d'en avoir le cœur net. Toutes ces péripéties troublent l'organisation du groupe nazi qui imprimait de la propagande hitlérienne dans les sous sols communicants des deux maisons.

The military is performing a practice air raid on New York City. Sach convinces the boys that it is real and they go down to the recruiter's office and enlist. Meanwhile, Slip arrives at Louie's and finds out what just happened and goes down there to stop them. He is too late, as they have already joined, and is tricked into enlisting himself.

A local charity has raised sixteen hundred dollars and entrusted the boys with it. They are then robbed of the cash by two men dressed as sailors. Believing them to be real sailors, and in order to catch them, they enlist in the Navy under fake names. They spend a year at sea, but cannot locate the thieves. However, Sach is able to win two thousand dollars gambling and the boys return to the Bowery. It is there that they are robbed by the same two men, but with the Navy captain helping, they are able to capture the crooks. They return to the navy office to receive their commendations, but are mistakenly re-enlisted!

Slip and Sach's boss, David J. Thurston, has allegedly committed suicide. Slip finds a book of matches with the name of a local nightclub on his boss' desk and finds out from Gabe that a gambling casino is being run out of it. Slip suggests that Louie take a vacation and hand over the responsibilities of the sweet shop to the boys. Louie reluctantly agrees and takes his wife to Coney Island. The boys decide to turn his sweet shop into an escort service and give the place a makeover. Meanwhile Gabe, who works as a messenger for a bank, has gotten himself into trouble. He had $5,000 of the bank's money stolen from him and local gangsters threaten to frame him for the theft unless he agrees to get the bank vault combination for them. He gives them the combination and the gangsters take over the sweet shop from Sach, who is minding it while Slip and the rest of the boys are out serving as escorts. Their goal is to dig from the sweet shop to the bank, and Sach allows them to after they convince him that they are government men looking for uranium. Eventually Slip, Louie, and the rest of the boys wind up back at the sweet shop and are pressed into service. Gabe goes to the police to tell the whole story, and as soon as he does, the gangsters dig through the police station floor (which is situated behind the bank) and are captured. Louie is temporarily pleased as Sach did find uranium under his store, but in the end it is discovered that he only owns the land.

Louie is owed money by a stable-owner and sends Slip and the boys over to collect the debt. They return with a horse, My Girl, as payment. Local gangsters want the horse and switch their horse, Tarzana, for the gang's horse. They boys discover the ruse and the horses are switched several more times. In the end, Sach rides the real My Girl in a horse race, beating Tarzana and the gangsters.

The boys are trying to raise money for their friend Gloria. She has to give up her aspiring singing career in order to stay home and take care of her sick mother. Slip comes up with the idea to hypnotize Sach into thinking he is an unbeatable fighter so that they can enter him into a contest to win $2,500. Meanwhile, Gabe brokers a deal with a crooked nightclub owner to give Gloria the big break she has been waiting for. The nightclub owner then hires a ringer to fight Sach as well as his own hypnotist to counter Slip's control over Sach in order to collect a fortune from everyone who has bet on Sach.
