Le Meurtrier de l'Illinois, Serial killer, ou Disparitions sanglantes (To Catch a Killer) est un thriller américain en deux parties de 90 minutes, réalisé par Eric Till et diffusé le 15 mai 1992.

En France, le téléfilm a été diffusé le 4 juin 1994 sur M6. Rediffusion les 19 août 1997 et 20 août 1997 sur M6.

Synopsis

Enquêtant sur la disparition d'un jeune garçon, l'inspecteur de police Joe Kozenczak suit une piste qui le mène vers un homme d'affaires respecté, John Wayne Gacy. Se fiant à son intuition, il est vite persuadé que John Gacy est non seulement responsable de la mort du jeune garçon mais que la vérité est bien pire. John Gacy est un monstrueux tueur en série qui aurait assassiné et enterré 33 adolescents sous sa maison à Chicago.

Marcus Pendleton vient d’être libéré de prison pour détournement de fonds. Ten-year-old Jess Aarons (Julian Coutts) is an aspiring yet shy elementary school boy living in a financially struggling family. Ten-year-old Leslie Burke (Julie Beaulieu) is the new girl at Jess's school, just arriving on the school's athletics day. She enters a running event which she wins with ease, despite her classmates calling it a "boys only" race. Jess and Leslie base the Creatures of Terabithia on the people that give them a hard time at school.
