Chiranjeevi is a 1984 Indian Tamil film, directed by K. Shankar and produced by S. Jagadeesan. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sripriya, Jaiganesh and Sarath Babu in lead roles. The film had musical score by M. S. Viswanathan.

Keerthi (Prabhu), an honest police officer, is charged to solve a double murder case. Keerthi faces up to another police officer Naveen Kumar (Captain Raju). Naveen Kumar who hungers for a promotion wants to take charge of this affair. Keerthi and Naveen Kumar finally fight, and the matter is taken up in court. Keerthi hires the lawyer Chaturvedi (Sivaji Ganesan), a senior lawyer who has never lost a case. Later, Chaturvedi has a heart attack and is taken care by the doctor Mona. He really likes the way she took care of him and he now considered her like his own daughter. The doctors Rajasekhar (Sarath Babu) and Mona (Deepika Chikhalia) suspect the hospital running by the doctor Johnson (Nassar) for doing illegal activities. Rajasekhar is later killed by someone, the presumed guilty is Mona according to the fingerprint on the murder weapon. Keerthi and Chaturvedi come to her rescue.

In the past, Jeevadurai (Jaiganesh), an honest police officer, was killed by Govindan (Vijayakumar). Thereafter, Rajaratnam (Sathyaraj), Jeevadurai's son, was brought by D.I.G Pandidurai (Sivaji Ganesan). Few years later, Rajaratnam is married to Devaki (Rupini) and they have a son. Like his father, Rajaratnam becomes a police officer. In Shanthi Nagar, Govindan who is now known as Kocha controls the city and the people cannot face him and his henchmen. His adopted father Pandidurai transfers Rajaratnam to Shanthi Nagar.

Madan (Kamal Haasan) is a dancer by profession who is a dream boy of all young girls. Kalpana (Shobana),a young woman, is irritated by Madan's fame and she badly criticizes his performances which attracts attention of Madan on her. He challenges that he would make her long for him and his love, but he falls in love with her. He tries to win her love in several ways but eventually fails. One night he gets into her house with a face mask which makes Kalpana to misunderstand that he is a thief and screams and alerts her home. Madan is trapped and handed over to the police. Madan, who is a son of pickle businessman Ooruga Ulaganathan (V. K. Ramaswamy) rescues him from Police custody and finds the reason for incident to be his love for Kalpana. Kalpana's father, who is a psychiatrist, finds that Madan is the son of his old friend Ulaganathan. Madan-Kalpana's marriage is approved and fixed then.
