The film stars Pavan Malhotra, Raima Sen, Tillotama Shome, Indraniel Sengupta, Faroque Sheikh, Shatrunjay Devvrat, Riddhi Sen, Rucha Inamdar, and Victor Banerjee. Filmed in India with similar characters and places mimicking Bangladesh, The Bastard Child is an Indian movie based around the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.
Synopsis
In one of the many mind-numbing images in this exceptionally vivid work on the wages of war, the back of a truck is jolted open and out falls a tumble of women one on top of another at a Pakistani prisoner camp for Bangladeshi women run by a despicable tyrant who could be the Nazi mass murder Ralph Fiennes in Steven Spielberg’s Schindler’s List.Acteurs

Au Bengale au XIXe siècle. Bhubaneshwar Chaudhary est un zamindar (propriétaire terrien) riche et autoritaire. Désireux d'occuper la première place, tant aux yeux de ses voisins que du colon britannique, il veut faire réaliser une sculpture de la déesse Durga ayant les traits de la reine Victoria. Aucun bengali n'acceptant cette commande, il engage un sculpteur bihari, Brij Bhushan. D'autre part, il souhaite désespérément avoir un héritier et, rendant son épouse responsable de cet échec, il se marie avec une jeune femme, Jashomati, qu'il harcèle sexuellement sans plus de résultat. Cette dernière, traumatisée par les assauts répétés de son mari et par la compétition qui s'installe entre les deux épouses, s'attache de plus en plus à Brij Bhushan.

Cette visite prend des allures tragiques lorsque Adela, victime d'hallucinations, sort d'une des grottes en courant, morte de peur. Elle se blesse en dévalant la pente au milieu de cactus, trouvant refuge dans une voiture conduite par une Anglaise. Elle accuse plus tard le Dr Aziz de tentative de viol. Ni Mrs Moore ni l'ami d'Aziz, Fielding, directeur du collège, ne croient en cette accusation qui met la ville au bord de l'émeute. Le procès a lieu alors que Mrs Moore meurt sur le bateau qui la ramène en Grande-Bretagne. Appelée comme témoin, Adela retire ses accusations, rompt ses fiançailles et quitte l'Inde. Plus tard, Fielding, qui a épousé la fille de Mrs Moore, retrouve Aziz dans un petit hôpital au cœur de l'Himalaya.
