By Appointment Only is a 1933 American Pre-Code film directed by Frank R. Strayer. Successful doctor Michael Travers (Lew Cody) juggles a busy schedule of patients, one of which is the mother of 14-year-old Judy (Sally O'Neil). Judy's mother dies, and Travers and his fiance, Diane Manners (Aileen Pringle), take responsibility for Judy's care. Upon returning from a three-year trip to Europe, Travers finds himself falling in love with Judy, despite her now being engaged to Diane's younger brother, Dick. Tensions rise as the four become aware of each other's feelings. Travers finally gives up, and the movie ends with the marriage of Judy and Dick.

In 1795, the cream of English aristocracy attend the wedding of "tradesman's daughter" Margery. Il y a ce vieux violon solo de l'orchestre cosmopolite et il est sur le point de réaliser son ambition de longue date d'apparaître comme soliste avec l'orchestre, lorsqu'un accident le prive de l'usage de sa main droite. Ses enfants, apprenant son malheur, l'abandonnent immédiatement sachant qu'il ne leur fournira plus d'argent. Adolph Greig descend de plus en plus bas et devient un mendiant de la rue, trop fier pour demander de l'aide à ses amis et incapable de retrouver son fils ou sa fille. Un soir, debout devant la salle de concert, il sombre dans la rue de faim et de fatigue. Il est pris en charge par deux hommes associés à l'orchestre, Mancini et Rozzini, et ils l'emmènent chez Rozzini et ils développent un plan par lequel ils installeront Greig dans un studio voisin où il pourra donner des cours de violon. Un jeune génie du violon nommé Carl Rupert se présente et, avec l'aide de Mancini et Rozzini, Greig entame le garçon dans une brillante carrière.

Manhattan Tower is about a couple by the names of Mary Harper (Mary Brian) and Jimmy Duncan (James Hall). Both work at the Empire State Building: he as an engineer, she's a secretary. They would like to marry and buy a house that they saw advertised in a window in the building lobby, but they need more money. Mary asks her womanizing boss for advice, and he persuades her to give him all her savings to invest. Unbeknownst to her, the boss has speculated in the commodity market, and lost not only his money and that of his wealthy wife, but also some of the firm's funds too. His wife would like to quietly divorce him to marry her politician friend, but the husband asks her for money to avoid a scandal. When Mary changes her mind and asks for the restitution of her savings, her boss refuses and mistreats her. That causes a confrontation between Jimmy and Mary's boss, and they fight. Meanwhile, also the politician and an honest accountant of the firm, who discovered his superior's misdeeds but kept silent fearing to lose his job, decide to confront Mary's boss. During the fight, he takes a gun from a drawer, and menaces them all. He trips and falls through a window to his death. The witnesses decide to declare it was a suicide and go on with their lives.
