The film is about a middle-aged Bangladeshi woman whose life is turned upside down when her husband returns from Bangladesh with a pregnant teenage bride. It was broadcast by BBC Two on 25 March 2006.
Synopsis
Sofia (Shabana Azmi) is a disillusioned Bangladeshi woman in her 50s who has lived in a council tenement block near Brick Lane since coming to England as a young bride. Her elderly Bangladeshi husband Shafiq (Renu Setna) feeling marginalised by his spouse's attendance of yoga classes, goes back to Bangladesh for a holiday and returns after a year with a pregnant teenage bride.Acteurs

Un instituteur et son épouse arrivent dans un village de la région d'Hyderabad sur lequel une fratrie de zamindars (propriétaires terriens) fait régner la terreur. The film tells the story of three individuals, Harphool Singh Mandola a.k.a. Siddharth Mathur (Sharman Joshi), a shy young scientist, travels to Mauritius for his elder brother Harsh's (Sanjay Suri) wedding. Accompanying him is his mother Gayatri (Shabana Azmi), a reluctant traveller since she is angry at Harsh for deciding to get married without consulting them. Also travelling is Siddharth's cheery father Navin (Boman Irani), whose sole entertainment is pulling Gayatri's leg. Harsh, pre-occupied with work, can spend little time with his family and it is left to his fiancée Aaliyah (Chitrangada Singh) to show them around Mauritius before the wedding. However, Ma's anger at Harsh ensures that she takes an instant dislike for Aaliyah, and it is Aaliyah and Siddharth who end up spending loads of time together. This, added to the fact that Aaliyah feels neglected by the career-obsessed Harsh, leads to them being irresistibly drawn to each other. A horrified Siddharth battles this attraction desperately, but Aaliyah has fallen madly in love and pursues him with single-minded determination. When Siddharth’s defences start crumbling and Ma starts getting suspicious, all hell breaks loose in the Mathur family.

Le film relate l'histoire vraie de quatre jeunes Anglais, Ruhal Ahmed, Asif Iqbal et Shafiq Rasul, les « Tipton Three »(les trois originaires de Tipton) comme on le voit parfois dans les articles anglophones. Le réalisateur a pour ce docu-fiction décidé d'organiser le film avec des parties purement film, où l'on voit les acteurs, des parties interviews, où les vrais Ruhal, Asif et Shafiq racontent leur histoire et des parties avec des séquences historiques. Cette bande d'amis, dont les parents sont d'origine pakistanaise et bangladaise, se rendent fin septembre 2001, au Pakistan pour célébrer le mariage d'Asif. C'est à Karachi, lors d'une discussion à la mosquée, qu'ils décident d'aller en Afghanistan juste après le 11 septembre, histoire de voir de leur propres yeux ce qu'il se passe dans la région, (à l'époque, les talibans étaient au pouvoir). Le film composé d'interviews, de séquences historiques relatives à cette période, nous dresse un portrait dramatique de l'expérience des trois amis : depuis leur voyage en Afghanistan jusqu'à leur arrestation et incarcération.

While Anu has dedicated her life to taking care of Meethi and her mother, even putting her own relationship with a fellow professor (Kanwaljeet Singh) on hold, in Meethi's imaginary world both the older women are holding her in the house and away from her kids against her will. She imagines her family to be living at the non-existent 15 Park Avenue in Kolkata.
