Synopsis
The Stooges join the war effort by enlisting in the Merchant Marines. While aboard ship, they have a brief run-in with Lt. Dungen, a secret German Nazi officer played by Vernon Dent, and then mistake a torpedo for a beached whale. Moe says they have to kill it, and it promptly explodes. After being lost at sea for several days, they come across the SS Schicklgruber and climb aboard. Now with fully grown beards, they encounter Lt. Dungen again, who does not recognize them. After realizing they are in with a nest of German sailors, they eventually overtake the crew and toss them overboard.Acteurs

At the estate of King Herman the 6⅞ (Don Brodie) (a parody of Kaiser Wilhelm II), the deposed king of Moronica, war profiteers Ixnay (Vernon Dent), Amscray (Lynton Brent) and Umpchay (previously Onay) (Bud Jamison) have decided that they have had enough of Moe Hailstone, the fascist dictator they put in power, and want to help Herman retake the throne. To this end, his daughter, the princess Gilda (Mary Ainslee), threatens to try and assassinate Hailstone using an explosive Number 13 pool ball strategically positioned in Hailstone's billiard table. The fictitious country of Moronica (or at least Moe Hailstone) seems to be familiar with a pool game in which the 13 ball is placed at the head of the rack during set up.

The Stooges must get their future father-in-law (John Tyrrell) out of jail. Apparently, the father is a prison warden who has been overthrown and put behind bars by the local mafia. The Stooges manage to sneak into the prison, find the father-in-law to be, and start snapping as many incriminating photos of the mafia's party as possible. As a result, the real crooks are served justice, and the Stooges marry their sweethearts.

This short begins in the home of Wealthy J. Rumsford Rumford (Don Beddoe). The guests of the party are remarking as to why his wife, Sherry Rumford (Lorna Gray), hasn't appeared yet. Rumsford is growing impatient. His psychiatrist friend calms him down. Then Sherry arrives by driving her car into the middle of the living room. Rumsford asks his psychiatrist friend for help, so he recommends Doctors Ziller, Zeller, and Zoller, who he claims are very expensive and have very peculiar methods, but get results. Rumsford then has his butler, Williams (Bud Jamison), call their office.

Fuller Bull (Vernon Dent), the head of the ailing Daily News, confronts the reporters he hired for not getting him a story to keep up with a competing newspaper called the Daily Star Press. Fuller Bull catches three shirtmen (the Stooges) outside thinking they are reporters from the Daily Star Press and immediately hires them to get a picture of visiting Prince Shaam of Ubeedarn (Dick Curtis). The Stooges are working as singing waiters at a restaurant and meet two doctors (Vernon Dent, John Tyrrell) who ask them to cheer up Betty Williams, a little girl who is sick from grief because her father (Ned Glass), a bank cashier, has been kidnapped while delivering $300,000 worth of bonds. After the Stooges, as little girls with blonde sausage curls, fail to cheer her up, they volunteer to find the girl's father. The doctors give them a brief description of the father (middle-aged, bald-spot, an anchor tattoo, and 5'10" in his stocking feet). He and Betty like to yodel to each other, something Curly seems rather adept at.

The Stooges are thrown out of their apartment (literally) and the Landlord will not allow them to get their belongings until they pay 8 months of back rent. Desperate to make money Moe reads an article in the newspaper about a man who slipped on a bar of soap in a hotel lobby and successfully sued the hotel. The Stooges find a bar of soap in the street and arrived at a hotel in an attempt to stage an accidental slip and sue. Before carrying out their plan the Stooges find out the hotel is run by an old lady who is about to lose the hotel to the landlord as she owes him money and can't attract new customers because the hotel is run down and she can't afford the repairs. The trio then decide to help her fix up the place and start by beating up the landlord and stealing his watch and the small amount of money the lady just paid him.

It is the American Civil War, and the Stooges enlist in the service. Moe and Larry accidentally join the Union Army, while Curly manages to correctly sign up with the Confederate. Before the error can be corrected, several Union soldiers order Moe and Larry to lock up their "prisoner." A few moments later, a Confederate general sees Curly being released and, upon seeing Moe and Larry, thinks he has captured two Union soldiers. This mix up goes back and forth several times, until Moe and Larry finally find Confederate uniforms, only to be caught in Union army headquarters. They eventually escape by performing minstrel song-and-dance routine in blackface, with Curly playing a Mammy-type character and Larry strumming a banjo.

Shemp wins $50,000 for accidentally guessing the correct make of a car for a radio contest. The boys check in at the Hotel Costa Plente, and quickly spend their winnings. Their suite is furnished with many expensive items, which they systematically destroy. The hotel manager (Vernon Dent) discovers the destruction when he delivers a telegram to the stooges' suite; the telegram reveals that taxes withheld from Shemp's winnings reduce the $50,000 windfall to a minuscule $4.85.
