Baari Tar Bangla is a 2014 Indian Bengali language satirical comedy by Rangan Chakravarty and produced by Satrajit Sen & Piyal Bhadra in association with Reproduction Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and Tripod Entertainment. The film was released on 16 May 2014.

Synopsis

Roopchand Sen is a professional writer who can no longer write. When he determines that the problem is not physical, but psychological, he goes to see a psychiatrist, Abanti, who uncovers his life story.

The film begins with a baby taking his initial steps on a beach while the father is supporting him. The narrator in the background (Prasenjit) states that, it is right for a father to support his child in his infancy, but questions whether the father should continue to hold the child’s hand even after he is 24 years old. As the credits roll, a visibly angry Siddhu (Hiran Chatterjee) begins uttering abuses at all the fathers in the world. When inquired about his disgust, he says that his father, Aravind (Sabyasachi Chakrabarty), gives him more than what he asks for. He cites instances where his choices of dressing, hairdo and many others are stashed away by his father’s. However, he vows that the two things that will be of his choice would be, his career and the woman he would marry.

Three individuals - Akshay (Tusshar Kapoor), Mr. Joshi (Anupam Kher) and Lambodar Jha(Rajpal Yadav) have their own share of troubles as a common man. In the Bengali language, the name of the film literally translates to "War cry of the Beggars". The film shows two imaginary groups of contemporary Bengal- Fyataroo: Flying human beings; Choktor: Black Magic sect Bhodi. The head of the Choktors, initiates a total war against the ruling political party of West Bengal, India. Fyataroos join hands with Choktors. Advised by Calcutta's progenitors Dandabayash (ageless primordial talking crow) and an Indo-colonial half-breed Begum Johnson(1732-1818) erupt a historic insurrection. They jointly launch guerrilla attacks against the Government. Skulls dance in crematoria and flying-discs flutter in the skies and cry anarchy, resident ghosts gossip and prattle, and the police is in total confusion. Government is forced to surrender and offer a peace proposal to the joint force. This anarchic film dissects almost everything wrong in the city with a cinematic knife sharpened on trenchant farce and fantasy.

Par une nuit d’orage, un assassin avance vers sa victime, un poignard à la main. The film revolved around women of three generations and their lives and changing position in society. And this is shown in relation to a jewellery box. The lead character is the matriarch of a Bengali Hindu family (Moushumi Chatterjee) of landed gentry in East Bengal. She was married off in an arranged marriage at age 11, and widowed shortly thereafter. The story of the film revolves around her wedding jewels, which she keeps sequestered in a box. After becoming a victim of ethnic cleansing during the partition of India, her family moves to the Republic of India from East Pakistan, losing their ancestral lands in the process. She spends the remainder of her life, apparently as a chaste widow, hiding her wedding jewels from her greedy relatives in the joint family. In 1949, she befriends the new bride of the family, her niece-in-law (Konkona Sen Sharma) shortly before dying.
