Ahir Bhairav (Assamese: অহিৰ ভৈৰৱ, English: Songs of the Dawn)is an Assamese language film directed by Siva Prasad Thakur and produced by Dr Ronen Sarma, under the banner of Rondeep Productions (UK) Ltd. This is the first ever Assamese movie crossing the budget of Rs 1 crore and entirely shot in the UK. It has been chosen by the British Film Institute, London, to be preserved in its archive.

Synopsis

The story revolves around a PIO Indian woman suffering from schizophrenia and its impact on those close to her.

Raag is set in Delhi where Radhika (Zerifa Wahid), a Hindustani singer, lives with her businessman husband Alok (Kenny Basumatary). Attempting to write his novel of love, Dwijen ironically loses his intimacy and connection with his wife, Manosi (Zerifa Wahid). Their marital relationship goes through a rough phase. He suffers from neurotic hallucinations and severe depression, and attempts to break free from everyday life by alienating himself from his academic and personal responsibilities.

The story of Ajeyo takes place in a village of Assam in 1946, just some time before India’s independence and partition. Gojen Keot (Rupam Chetia), an honest yet short-tempered young man, lives alone with his grandmother. By doing some odd jobs here and there, he struggles to earn proper livelihood. He supports Gandhi and believes that once India becomes independent, social injustice will end. Though he dropped out of school, he tutors the no-caste Muslim girl Hasina (Jupitora Bhuyan). Once as a rookie participant in the freedom struggle he failed to deliver a note to a team of marching protesters against the British that caused the lives of two freedom fighters. He regularly battles ghosts of his past related to this incident.

The period was early 1970s. Brilliant brains from Calcutta Medical College to Presidency College, from Calcutta University to Bengal Engineering College, the meritorious boys and girls plunged into the revolution for social reform. They had given up their prosperous and promising careers for the sake of the society. However, the administration could eventually overcome the surge and more sadly, a few miscreants also took advantage of the general unrest for personal gain that eventually brought infamy to the revolution that was otherwise a dedicated and a respectable one. Baandhon is set mostly in Guwahati, before the climax it shifts to Mumbai. It tells the story of 73 years old couple – Dandeswar (Bishnu Kharghoria) and Hkawni (Bina Patangia), who live outskirts of Guwahati, grudgingly nudging each other for a divorce. They approach one of their ex-tenants, now a family friend, a successful local lawyer Jatin (Jatin Bora) to file the divorce petition. While Jatin is aware that this is just a passing phase and the couple will soon patch up. He advises the couple to live separately in the two different bedrooms of their bungalow. The couple had lost their only son and daughter-in-law in an accident some years ago and their grandson, Pona, is the only living kin. He is currently studying in IIT Bombay. However, things take an unprecedented turn when Pona disconnects a call from Dandeswar in the middle of a conversation. The subsequent tries to contact him fails. It all took place at the same time with the 26/11 2008 terror attack. The couple arrives in Mumbai in search of their missing grandson.
