7th Day is a 2014 Malayalam crime thriller film written by Akhil Paul and directed by Syamdhar. It stars Prithviraj as 42-year-old IPS officer David Abraham on the trail of an unnatural case. The film also stars Tovino Thomas, Anu Mohan, Vinay Forrt, Yog Jappe, Janani Iyer and Praveen Prem.

Synopsis

The story starts with a monologue by David Abraham, IPS (Prithviraj) during the night of Christmas. When he leaves a party, he gets involved in an accident with Shan(Vinay Forrt) and Vinu(Anu Mohan). David takes them to hospital for treating Vinu's injury which he sustained while falling down from the bike. From the hospital Vinu escapes, to Shan's horror. David starts to suspect that there is something wrong. But Shan says there is no problem and David drops him at his place. Then he notices that Vinu has dropped his wallet in his jeep.

The movie is about the journey of a Malayali youth Anwar (Prithviraj) into the clutches of anti-social elements. The protagonist has another hidden agenda in joining the terrorist outfit. The movie opens with the visuals of Coimbatore bomb blast and the introduction of a special team under Stalin Manimaran (Prakash Raj) who arrests Babu Sait (Lal), a local community leader as a suspect in the bomb blast case. Meanwhile, Anwar a Muslim youth is arrested while passing on with some Hawala money and is sent to jail with Babu Sait and his team. Anwar performs his Namaaz daily five times. He is also fascinated by the terrorist activities of Babu Sait. Babu Sait helps Anwar in getting a bail and lures him to his activities. Anwar is attracted towards Terror acts and even successfully terminates two local drug dealers. Soon he becomes the most trusted and obedient right hand of Babu Sait. Anwar succeeds in planting a bomb in the police Headquarters and is soon introduced to Basheer Bhai (Sampath Raj), who selects him to spearhead another big, but dangerous project of chain blasts. Their plans were to plant a series of chain blasts in Mumbai. Though Anwar goes on with their plans, he has a haunting flashback, which forms the twist in the story. Babu Sait Shows the pictures of the coimbatore blast, which diverts Anwar to his flashback. The Flashback goes like this: Anwar and his family is a family that lives in a rural area of Palakkad. Anwar, an NRI returns from America for his sister's wedding. There he meets his sister's best friend Ayesha (Mamta Mohandas), and falls for her. His family knows about this and proposes to her. She accepts. But when they go out for shopping to Coimbatore, Anwar goes out of the cloth shop for refreshing and a sudden blast happens, killing the whole family except him. Meanwhile, Ayesha is arrested & then Anwar goes out to Stalin for her bail. But he refuses and tell it could not be done owing to lack of proof. He then tells Stalin that he will assist in the discovery of the terrorists, which lead to the present part of the story. Both of them have a secret meeting about the bomb blasts planned by Babu Sait & Co. Stalin brings Ayesha so that they could meet after a long time. When Babu Sait's Men arrives, Stalin tells Anwar to act as if they were having a fight, and one of the Babu Sait's men shoot Stalin, hereby killing, thinking that Anwar was having a fight. But after that, Anwar was given the big responsibility of transporting the deadly terrorists to Mumbai, through a ship containing full of explosives & weapons. Anwar at first made them think that he was on their side, but soon he blasts the ship by firing on it and killing all of the terrorists. Babu Sait becomes furious, that Anwar cheated them. When Anwar says about his parents, their flashbacks, which Babu Sait commits suicide. Anwar then calls the phone of Stalin which is under the police custody. He tells that the mission is over. After that it is narrated that Stalin & his colleague got bravery awards but no one has recognised the near-death battle Anwar has played. The film ends when both Anwar & Ayesha are in a quiet place, living together in a small house. The end-credits rolls with the "Njan" song.

Walter Vanangamudi (Vishal Krishna) and Kumbudren Saamy (Arya) are half-brothers, who constantly fight and try to outdo each other. Both brothers are pickpockets and get encouragement from their respective mothers. Walter's mother Maryamma (Ambika) encourages her son to steal and continue their "family tradition". However, Walter, an aspiring actor with an effeminate touch, is rather interested in arts than committing crimes. The Zamindar (G. M. Kumar), referred to as 'Highness' by the community, takes an affinity towards Saamy and Walter and treats them as his own family. He constantly encourages Walter to take up acting seriously and to be friendly towards his brother. Walter is smitten by a Police Constable Baby (Janani Iyer) from whom he attempts to steal after being dared by his brother to prove himself. She finds him completely amusing and eventually falls for him. He returns several stolen goods from his home and from Kumbudren Samy to rescue her from being dismissed and goes to great lengths to impress her. Kumbudren Samy falls for a college student Thenmozhi (Madhu Shalini) who is intimidated by his rough ways at first but reciprocates his love later on.

Dharmarajan master (Thalaivasal Vijay) is a famous stunt master who worked in many films and had a lot of students. He was out from the field for a long time. Premanand is like a sinking ship and needs a hit, so he joins his friend Aadhityan for the movie. Meanwhile Premanand likes Gowri and wants to marry her. He tries to impress her in several ways but she didn't mind him. Tarzan's dedication to his works and amazing stunts impress Gowri. The movie gets released and it becomes a grand hit. Audience who don't know the actual hero behind the screen appreciates Premanand for the action sequences while Gowri, Aadhityan and the whole crew appreciates Tarzan for his work. Gowri and Tarzan fall in love with each other. Premanand decides to destroy Tarzan who is a hindrance between him and Gowri. At that time Aadhityan announces his next project with same cast and crew. Premanand wants to remove Tarzan from the project, but Aadhityan in turn removes Premanand from the movie and make Tarzan the hero of the movie. This angers Premanand and he takes revenge by plotting to kill Tarzan, but ends up killing Tarzan's father (Nedumudi Venu). Aadhityan tells Tarzan to let matters lie low for a while before he takes his revenge. Once the shooting for the film gets over, Tarzan goes to Premanand and Gowri's brother to take revenge for killing his father and when he returns it is shown that the audience has accepted Tarzan as the new Hero and Tarzan and Gowri are more than happy to openly accept their relation.

With the happening of a crime the movie has opened. Then comes an investigation officer Alexander (Sreenivasan), and an assistant (Vinay Forrt). Alexander unlike the assistant, is an officer who doesn't believe in torturing the accused people to prove crimes. He is touted as one of the toughest cops in the service to get deceived. Harsha Vardhan (Dulquer Salmaan) is a man of mystery. He lives lonely in a big house, and teaches music to one kid. Apart from the role of a mucisian he has one more role to play in life – that of a sadist killer. The film takes a "U" turn post interval, which zoomed in to story that took place four year back. There we can see Harsha as an aspiring young musician. The struggles that he has to face in the initial years of his career are shown here. Not only in his career, but also in his life too he was seen struggling to maintain his relationship with the lover. Then his wife is murdered and how he plans to set revenge on the one who murdered his wife.
