Black Butterfly is a 2013 Malayalam film directed by Rajaputra Ranjith. The film is produced by Maniyanpilla Raju and starring Mithun Murali, Malavika Nair, Niranjan,Samskruthy Shenoy, in the lead roles.
Scripted by J Pallasserry, the movie is directed by M Renjith. M G Sreekumar is the music director. Maniyanpilla Raju produces the movie under the banner of Maniyanpilla Raju Productions. It is a remake of Tamil film Vazhakku Enn 18/9.

Synopsis

Story of Black Butterfly' focuses on how certain pranks played by plus two students, later turn out to be serious troubles in the life of many. The film portrays the theme of romantic love between two pairs of lovers.

Nanda (Revathi) is in love with a successful architect Narendaran (Mohan Lal), both of whom are living in Bangalore. They get engaged and are all set to marry when tragedy strikes. While they are talking on top of a construction building, Narendran accidentally slips and falls down, dying instantly. Depressed Nanda escorts Narendran's corpse to his homeland in Kerala. To her surprise she sees Narendran's twin brother Krishnan Unni (Mohan Lal), who looks exactly like Narendran. She thinks Narendran is not dead and everyone is trying to fool her. Narendran's parents want Nanda to marry Unni but he is already in love with Bhadra (Shobana). Bhadra tries to commit suicide and this shakes Nanda, Bhadra's dear friend, and Unni. Not wanting to be a burden on anyone and truly missing Narendran, Nanda commits suicide. Narendran's ghost, moments before Nanda's suicide, tells Unni that he is going to take Nanda with him to heaven since he really needs her, even in death. Unni is unsure if he just had an illusion, but to the viewers, it shown that Narendran's ghost was present and actually talking to Unni.

Elizabeth (Sukumari) is a physical education instructor at a college and lives with her son Emil (Rahman) and unmarried brother Vakkachan (Nedumudi Venu). Emil, who wants to upgrade his still photography business to video-graphy and Vakkachan who want to expand his pawn brokerage are apprehensive at first but then decides to help out. They start Eve's beauty parlour at home with all fanfare. But the appointed beautician turns out to be completely incompetent with some disastrous skin rash, hair dye incidents. Even her beloved students avoid her and an upset Elizabeth dismisses the beautician. Emil is sympathetic and advertises for a beautician through news papers.
