Shoma Anand (born 16 February 1958) is an Indian television and film actress. Although she has played frequently supporting roles or made cameo appearances throughout the 1980s and 1990s, she started her career opposite Rishi Kapoor as lead actress in Pramod Chakraborty's superhit romantic-crime movie Barood, then played a good role in Patita produced and directed by the same person. She had a few other films in which she was the lead, such as Jagir and Coolie in the 80s. From the late 1990s to present she has played minor and supporting roles in films like Jaise Karani Waisi Bharani, Coolie, Hungama, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum and Kal Ho Naa Ho.
She also was a star on the Indian TV soap Bhabhi and the hugely successful sitcom Hum Paanch. She also played a role in Shararat. She has also worked in Punjabi movies over the years.
She is married to actor Tariq Shah and they have a daughter, Sarah. She stars in the Zee TV drama Maayka as Jeet's mother & Soni's mother-in-law.

Unemployed Vicky (Akshat Bhatia) meets Neha (Namita) on the internet, and when they meet in person, they fall in love and wish to get married. Neha's father, Vishal (Satish Shah), approves of the union, but in order for him to bless the marriage, he requires Vicky to obtain employment within 7 days. As the deadline approaches, Vicky finally meets employer Armaan Kochar (Rishi Kapoor). Armann agrees to hire Vicky, but only upon the condition that he lets Neha and he spend a night together. Desperate, Vicky agrees... but instead of Neha, Vicky has hired a prostitute to impersonate her. Once Vicky is employed, Neha's father adds another condition: Vicky must find a suitable apartment or the marriage will not go forward. Vicky approaches Armann for help, and Armann sets him up in an apartment but insists on another night with "Neha" as compensation. But before Vicky can make the arrangements with the prostitute, Armann see the girl performing at a nightclub and learns that her name is Bijlee (Parmita Katkar) and that she was hired by Vicky and why. Angry, Armann fires Vicky and evicts him. Armann is subsequently kidnapped and held for ransome. Having witnessed the confrontation between the two, Armann's wife Kaajal (Shoma Anand), contacts the police and accuses Vicky of the crime.

Rahul (Tusshar Kapoor) is sincere and hardworking whilst Karan (Ritesh Deshmukh) is just the opposite. Both are best friends & cool wannabes. Sunil (Apoorva Agnihotri) and Ashok are two close friends. They are of marriageable age. One day Ashok's mom tells him to introduce himself to Shalu. But Ashok is reluctant to do so. He asks Sunil to impersonate him, and somehow reject Shalu. That way his mom will be satisfied and not pester him any more. In the meantime, Shalu and Nisha (Mahima Chaudhry) have also decided like-wise, and planned to fool Sunil. But when the two couples meet, Sunil and Nisha fall in love, but are unable to tell each other of their impersonations. When they do so, they are already in love, and after meeting each other's parents, they get married. Enter Sunil's elder brother Anand (Sunny Deol), and complications abound. Anand is involved in criminal activities, he wants to give up those, but his partners will not allow him to do so. Nisha works for Anand and he is in love with her and would like to marry her, but when he finds out that his brother loves her he steps down. Sunil and Nisha get married and have a kid but then Sunil is killed by Anands business partners who believe it to be Anand. Nisha's parents want her to get married again so Anand marries her as he still loves her. Anand then finds out that Sunil is alive and brings him back home even though Sunil had left because he knew that Anand loved Nisha. Anand is killed by the bad guys and Sunil and Nisha live happily ever after.

The movie revolves around the fact that you reap what you sow. Gangaram Verma has worked for the local municipality for several years, and is known in the community for being honest. Many contractor's have attempted to bribe him but never succeeded. During a felicitation ceremony for GangaRam, he rejects a garland of 1Lac rupees from one of the contractor's Prem Kumar. So Prem kumar decides to teach Gangaram a lesson. He hires Gangaram's only son, Vijay (who worships Lakshmi and hates being poor), in his office, and subsequently gets him married to his only daughter, Sapna. In course of time, they have a son Ravi. They then scheme to get Gangaram to trust them by showing Ravi, and upon doing so, they get him to sign his property to them As Ravi gets more attached to grandparents and also because Vijay and Sapna have got the property they make Gangaram and his wife, Laxmi, homeless. They then lie to Ravi that his grandparents are dead. Years go by, then one day Ravi comes across a coolie who resembles his grandfather.

Mala is the daughter of Kishanlal who works as a servant with a wealthy family. One day Mala meets with the owner of this family, who is so impressed with Mala that he asks for her hand in marriage for his fourth son, Gopal, which Kishanlal humbly accepts. As a result Mala gets married to Gopal, and moves in to their palatial home. While Mala is extremely helpful and sweet-natured, the rest of the daughter-in-laws, three of them, are quite the opposite. When bad times befall this family, the owner passes away; Gopal and Mala move out, leaving Gopal's mother at the mercy of her indifferent sons, Girdhar, Murli, Manohar, and their abusive wives who refuse to assist in any household work, virtually forcing their aged mother-in-law to all menial work, not looking after her needs, even when she becomes ill, and ultimately throwing her out of the house. Gopal gains popularity as a musician, while his brothers mortgage their family home with a moneylender. They decide to live off Gopal, and tell him that their mother has gone for a tirath-yatra (holy journey). With that out of the way, the brothers go back to their lifestyle, not really caring that their mother may be destitute, ill, and on the verge of dying.
