Biographie
Díaz is openly gay. In 2011, he told Out magazine that his rough upbringing in New York City ultimately made him a better actor. He said: "I went to school in the Bronx. I learned to constantly try to cover up the fact that I was gay. That façade of being somebody I'm really not just to protect myself definitely helped with acting."Díaz has said on multiple times, that he is a fan of Madonna. He has been to all of her tours apart from The Virgin Tour and The Who's That Girl Tour. He also has her face tattooed on his right arm.

Julian (Mike Vogel) gets a call from his friend Terry (Danny Pino) who explains to him that he had earlier that day received a call that his fiancée, June (Brittany Murphy), has cancelled her flight. Terry had followed her and discovered that she had checked out a room in a local hotel, after which Terry rents out the room across the hall from June believing she is cheating on him. Terry explains to Julian that, earlier that evening, he had gone to Julian's house, and finding him not home, broke in and stole Julian's gun, and that he is now "about to fuck up." Worried that Terry is about to kill someone, Julian tries to reason with Terry on the phone not to do anything, but after having no success, he tells Terry to stay where he is and wait until he meets him at the hotel in about 20 minutes. During the film, it is revealed that June had canceled her flight because of Julian and that they were cheating behind Terry's back. Terry finds this out when he kills June and tries to call Julian, whose cell phone was still in the hotel room that June and Julian cheated in. Terry tricks Julian into helping move June, framing him for killing her while the police storm the hotel.

Viktor Navorski est un touriste comme un autre. Seulement, au moment de s'enregistrer sur le territoire américain, il est bloqué car son pays d'origine, la Krakozie, vient de voir son gouvernement renversé par un soulèvement de l'intérieur et plonger dans la guerre civile. Viktor, en partie à cause de ses difficultés pour communiquer en langue anglaise, se fait confisquer son passeport et son ticket de retour par l'administration de l'aéroport, dirigé par Frank Dixon, le nouveau directeur temporaire de l'aéroport John-Fitzgerald-Kennedy (JFK), qui tente en vain de lui expliquer la gravité de la situation. Malgré tout, Viktor finit par comprendre grâce aux postes de télévision disposés dans le terminal que son pays a sombré dans la guerre. Bloqué dans l'aéroport, il décide alors de s'installer dans une section fermée du terminal de JFK, à la porte d'embarquement 67. Dixon, qui est pressenti pour devenir le nouveau directeur de l'aéroport JFK, n’apprécie pas beaucoup cela et tente de le pousser à entrer par effraction sur le territoire des États-Unis pour qu'il devienne le problème d'une autre administration. Viktor refuse et préfère attendre de pouvoir pénétrer légalement sur le territoire américain. À partir de cet instant, Dixon va tenter le maximum pour rendre la nouvelle vie de Viktor impossible. Devenu indésirable, et sans réelles ressources, il va subsister dans JFK, en faisant des petits boulots pour gagner sa vie, se faire des amis parmi les employés puis finalement trouver l'amour avec une hôtesse de l'air.
