The Stooges are vaudeville entertainers who trek to Mexico to perform their gag bullfight shtick, with Curly as the brave matador, and Moe and Larry dressed in a bull costume. Along the way, they cross paths with attractive senorita Dolores Sanchez (Suzanne Kaaren). They also cross paths with her evil jealous and hot-tempered man-hating husband named José (Harry Burns). In an act of revenge on Curly for flirting with Dolores, José pays the bullring attendants to release a live bull into the ring. Moe and Larry flee the ring, but Curly is unaware of the switch.

The Stooges are thrown out of their apartment (literally) and the Landlord will not allow them to get their belongings until they pay 8 months of back rent. Desperate to make money Moe reads an article in the newspaper about a man who slipped on a bar of soap in a hotel lobby and successfully sued the hotel. The Stooges find a bar of soap in the street and arrived at a hotel in an attempt to stage an accidental slip and sue. Before carrying out their plan the Stooges find out the hotel is run by an old lady who is about to lose the hotel to the landlord as she owes him money and can't attract new customers because the hotel is run down and she can't afford the repairs. The trio then decide to help her fix up the place and start by beating up the landlord and stealing his watch and the small amount of money the lady just paid him.

Le gangster Roy Earle, emprisonné pour braquage, fait l'objet d'une grâce. Il ne tarde pas à comprendre qu'on ne s'est débrouillé pour le faire libérer que pour lui faire organiser un « grand coup ». Devant retrouver d'autres acolytes, il prend la route et fait connaissance par hasard d'une famille dont la fille, Velma, a un pied bot mais dont il tombe amoureux. Il découvre ses complices, les trouve inexpérimentés, et leur demande de renvoyer Marie, la femme qui est avec eux, et qui a recueilli un chien. Marie, maltraitée par les deux voyous, demande protection à Earle qui finit par accepter, mais la repousse quand elle espère aller plus loin. Parallèlement Earle se débrouille pour financer l'opération qui réduira le pied bot de Velma. Cette opération réussit, mais après quelques visites, Velma lui apprend qu'elle en aime un autre. Earle est effondré et se rapproche de Marie. Une dernière tentative au domicile de Velma (pour la voir marcher) s'avère catastrophique : elle danse avec son fiancé et n'éprouve pour Earle que de la reconnaissance.

Their shrewd lawyer Diggin (Richard Fiske) suggests they marry three death row inmates (the Stooges) to retain the dough; once they are married, they get their inheritance, the convicts are hanged, and can marry their fiances free and clear. They do so, but the boys are pardoned by the governor, and as the girls celebrate their new bout of widowhood, the Stooges make their way into their house and make themselves at home.

The Stooges are inept, but honest, street cleaners. When they come across an envelope filled with oil bonds in the trash, they return them to their owner, B.O. Davis (John Tyrrell). The grateful Davis offers them a 5,000-dollar reward if they can find an honest man with executive abilities. An honest dog ultimately leads them to a weeping girl (Dorothy Appleby) who explains that her sweetheart has been unfairly jailed. The best way to talk to him, the Stooges figure, is to get arrested themselves. They land in the clink and track down their man, Percy Pomeroy (Eddie Laughton). With some black paint, they make their prison outfits look like guard uniforms and make their escape. Just as they are leaving, Davis is coming in — handcuffed to a detective and revealed as "Lone Wolf Louie, the biggest bond swindler in America." The Stooges wind up back in jail, breaking rocks over Curly's head.

When Curly tells a Mexican real estate dealer (Lynton Brent) their saloon has "...gotta have class and gotta have beauty," they end up with a beauty "saloon." Undaunted, the trio try their hand at giving a customer (Dorothy Appleby) a mud pack using, natural, real mud. After chiseling the cement off her face, the boys scalp three other Mexican beauties before having their bottoms shot full of holes.

The boys are painters who run into their old friend Jerry, an insurance salesman (Lynton Brent). He promises them that if they take out a policy on Curly proving that he has gone insane, they can collect $500 a month. Moe and Larry bring Curly on a leash to the office of Dr. D. Lerious (Vernon Dent). Curly's pretending to be a hound is so over the top that the doctor declares he must operate. The Stooges flee, and hide out in the back of a dog catcher's truck and are soon infested with fleas. Dr. Lerious eventually catches up with the Stooges, and Curly is sent straight for the operating room. Eventually, the trio get away on a gurney, bump into their pal Jerry, and give him the works.

The Stooges are guides (circa late 1800s), who are helping a trio christened "Nell's Belles" travel across the Rocky Mountains to San Francisco, the location of their next performance. While preparing some corned beef, a group of Indians urges them to get off their land as soon as possible. Since Curly scared off the horses earlier, the group are stuck there for the night. During the night, Moe and Larry angrily tell Curly to sleep by himself because he's barking like a dog in his sleep, as Curly dislikes. Unfortunately, snow falls while they sleep. They awake to discover a bear has devoured their food supply, so the three hapless guides try unsuccessfully to catch some fish in a nearby frozen lake. The fishing expedition is interrupted by Nell (Kathryn Sheldon), who discovers the Belles — Lorna Gray, Dorothy Appleby and Linda Winters — have been kidnapped by the Indians. The Belles manage to escape, and the troupe leaves the Indians' land quickly.
