She is the daughter of actors Vera Manhães and Antônio Pitanga. She is also stepdaughter of Benedita da Silva. Camila Pitanga is African descent of her father and mother side. She has a brother, also a television actor, Rocco Pitanga.Camila is atheist. Pitanga gave birth to her daughter Antônia on May 19, 2008.

The people of Linha Cristal, a fictitious village of Italo Brazilian descendants in Serra Gaúcha, gather to discuss the construction of a septic tank for sewage treatment. They form a commission which is responsible in ordering the budget to the town hall. The secretary of the mayor recognizes the need of the tank, but informs that there is no budget available. There is, however, R$ 10,000 available for the production of a film. This money was sent by the federal government and will be sent back if not used soon. The people of Linha Cristal have the idea of using the money to make a low budget documentary about the construction of the tank, but the film has to be fictitious. Then, they decide to make a science fiction B movie which tells the story of a monster who lives in the building site of a tank.

Célio Rocha, journaliste brésilien, a vu un problème gâcher sa vie ainsi que celle de sa famille : pour lui faire plaisir, ses parents avaient acheté un bel appartement à un constructeur qu’ils découvrent corrompu, le père d'Otávio Sabóia, le meilleur ami d'enfance de Célio. Le fait est qu'il ne livrera jamais les 480 appartements demandés. Lorsque le père d'Otávio se suicide, Célio se voit demander par son patron de réaliser une entrevue avec Otávio. En pleine faillite, Otávio lui demande d'arranger son article en échange de 5 millions de dollars. Désormais riche, Célio s'imagine déjà combler ses parents avec tout l'argent, mais lors d'un affrontement avec la police, le père de Célio trouva la mort après un arrêt cardiaque. C'est à ce moment que Célio eut sa première vision de Dieu. En marche pour le rencontrer (ce qu'il parviendra à faire), Célio reçoit de Dieu le devoir de reverser tout l'argent à tous ceux qui n'ont pas de toits.

Diogo Álvares gets stranded on a tropical island when he sails with a boat, and meets a beautiful native of the island, a girl called Paraguaçu and her sister Moema. The two natives become his lover, but Diogo is already engaged to be married in his native Portugal. He's engaged to Isabelle a French noble woman, an agreement made between the Portuguese and the French kings. At the island Diogo meets the two native's father, who after a few misunderstandings make him the tribe's chief. After some time on the island Diogo sees a caravelle far out in the sea. The ship approaches the shore and Diogo finally gets rescued by Portuguese nobility on the way to India. Diogo embarks on the ship, Paraguaçu swims to him. Diogo decides to take Paraguaçu with him to Europe.
