Le directeur d'un grand cirque américain, Brad Braden, doit faire face à des difficultés financières, et ses investisseurs refusent d'assurer une tournée complète cette année : ils préfèrent se contenter des grandes villes, et faire une tournée de dix semaines. Pour les convaincre qu'il va réussir à équilibrer le budget, Braden les informe qu'il a engagé le "grand" Sébastian, un trapéziste de renom. Ses investisseurs le préviennent qu'en plus d'avoir du succès auprès des spectateurs, celui-ci a également beaucoup de succès auprès des dames, ce qui fait qu'il crée autant de problèmes qu'il attire la renommée. De son côté, le truand Henderson a bien l'intention de profiter de la caravane du cirque pour arnaquer certains visiteurs. Il confie cette tâche à Jack Lawson, à qui il conseille de se faire discret : il ne tiendrait pas face à Braden.

Joe Priggle (Joe DeRita) is an inventor staying at a rest home where he tells the story to its proprietor (Vernon Dent) his strong dislike, eggs. It all starts when he fouls up one of his inventions to a client (Emil Sitka) when he finds an egg with an address written on it, the address belongs to a single woman Florabell (Dorothy Granger). He ends up marrying her, but soon finds out that she has an obnoxious brat of a son Rudolph (Norman Ollestead). He causes nothing but trouble for Joe by shooting him in the rear end with a slingshot, a BB gun and gets blown to bits by a miniature cannon. Meanwhile, Joe is busy working on his latest invention, a state-of-the-art dishwasher. The first time he uses it, it destroys all of Florabell's fine chinaware.

The Stooges are small time song-and-dance performers who are having trouble rehearsing due to loud tapping that is going on one story above them. When they go to give the rowdies a piece of their mind, three lovely ladies named Flo (Lindsay Bourquin), Mary (Laverne Thompson) and Shirley (Betty Phares) come to the door. It turns out the girls are performing their tap dance routine. The six become friends and go to a talent agent, Manny Weeks (John Tyrrell), to show of their stuff. However, he is at first unimpressed with the Stooges' act, but hires them anyway to perform at the Noazark Shipbuilding Company to entertain defense workers.

Learning from his father that comedians make "a lot of money," Froggy decides that he and the gang should become radio comedians. The Stooges are thrown out of their apartment (literally) and the Landlord will not allow them to get their belongings until they pay 8 months of back rent. Desperate to make money Moe reads an article in the newspaper about a man who slipped on a bar of soap in a hotel lobby and successfully sued the hotel. The Stooges find a bar of soap in the street and arrived at a hotel in an attempt to stage an accidental slip and sue. Before carrying out their plan the Stooges find out the hotel is run by an old lady who is about to lose the hotel to the landlord as she owes him money and can't attract new customers because the hotel is run down and she can't afford the repairs. The trio then decide to help her fix up the place and start by beating up the landlord and stealing his watch and the small amount of money the lady just paid him.

At the estate of King Herman the 6⅞ (Don Brodie) (a parody of Kaiser Wilhelm II), the deposed king of Moronica, war profiteers Ixnay (Vernon Dent), Amscray (Lynton Brent) and Umpchay (previously Onay) (Bud Jamison) have decided that they have had enough of Moe Hailstone, the fascist dictator they put in power, and want to help Herman retake the throne. To this end, his daughter, the princess Gilda (Mary Ainslee), threatens to try and assassinate Hailstone using an explosive Number 13 pool ball strategically positioned in Hailstone's billiard table. The fictitious country of Moronica (or at least Moe Hailstone) seems to be familiar with a pool game in which the 13 ball is placed at the head of the rack during set up.

En 1869, l'explorateur britannique Henry Morton Stanley part à la recherche du docteur David Livingstone porté disparu en Afrique et présumé mort. Il s'embarque pour Zanzibar. Après diverses péripéties, il finit par entendre parler d'un homme que les gens appellent "docteur", quelque part dans un village sur la rive du lac Tanganyika. Il entre dans une tente où se trouve étendu un homme malade. "Docteur Livingstone... je présume ?" demande-t-il. C'est bien Livingstone, trop faible pour pouvoir rentrer en Europe avec lui. Stanley rentre à Londres en rapportant le journal et les carnets de recherche de Livingstone ainsi qu'une demande de secours. Mais il se heurte à l'incrédulité de son public et aux calomnies propagées par Lord Tyce, homme antipathique qu'il a croisé pendant son voyage. Finalement, on apporte la nouvelle qu'une autre expédition vient de rapatrier le corps de Livingstone, qui est mort entretemps. Indigné, Stanley décide de repartir en Afrique afin de poursuivre l'œuvre de Livingstone.

Curly wins $50,000 from writing a catchy jingle for a radio contest. The boys quickly spend their loot, and check in at the Hotel Costa Plente. Their suite is furnished with many expensive items which they systematically destroy. In the process, three gold diggers connive their way into the boys' room, under the guise that they are three rich widows looking to remarry. This works perfectly, as Curly quickly discovers that all the tax deductions reduce his winnings to a minuscule $4.85. The boys hastily agree to marry the ladies, who soon find out the Stooges are broke and give them what for.
