Based on Samaresh's popular Gogol fiction Mahish Mardini Uddhar and Rai Raja Uddhar, the film unfolds with a 'sabeki' puja in a Bengal village, where all members of the once-royal household assemble during that time of year and Gogol will take us back to the time when joint households were in vogue. Gogol is in a way the younger version of Feluda who is gadget savvy, knows mob applications, has contemporary tastes and upbringing but still loves to be in a joint family and calls its members 'pisi-na kaka-didibhai-chhotomama etc. He never uses a tab but sharpens his 'magojastro'.

The film revolves around a typical middle-class family of Bengal. Ananda (Rajatava Dutta) is a very meek guy and is scared of confronting people. He is a peace-loving man and very shy in nature. He works as a clerk in a government office. His wife Seema (Rupa Ganguly) is however a spirited woman and remains tense about him and her family. They have a college-going daughter Dolon (Sanchita) and a son, Suman who studies in Class 9 and stays in the school hostel. To get rid of their daily ordeal, Ananda asks for help from a small-time goon Tota a.k.a. Ganesh Halder (Saswata Chatterjee). Tota is the leader of the club in their locality. The club members call themselves as 'saviors' but are engaged in anti-social activities. Ananda is scared of the rowdy members of the club, so he decided to satisfy them by paying a very high amount of money for the Saraswati Puja celebration. In return, Tota promised Ananda to help him if he ever gets into trouble. But Tota gives evidence of his dishonest intentions by coming inside Ananda's house in his absence on the pretext of asking for a glass of water. After that, Seema no longer wanted to live in the locality. Meanwhile, Dolon needed a tutor and Sudeb (Bhaswar Chattopadhyay) is the chosen for the job, who later developed intimate relationships with her and eventually went through a physical relationship caught by Seema. Enraged Ananda asks Tota to stop Sudeb from visiting his daughter. In return Tota wants to meet Dolon privately in the club. Sensing something may go wrong, Seema insists Ananda to take Dolon to her grandmother's house for a few days in spite of Ananda being afraid of Tota's wrath. That night Tota attacks the family and in order to protect Ananda his wife Seema seduces Tota and Tota being invoked rapes her in the house as Ananda stays outside and repents for the incident.

Eti is more like a routine love story where a bunch of college-goers get together, play pranks and make merry but are caught unawares — or rather with their pants down — by the subsequent twists and turns. By the end of it, Eti becomes a complex story too simply told. At the centre of all the action is Gourab, who plays the super cool Sanjoy in love with Shreya (Roopali). The couple, along with two other couples and a still-single friend, plan a holiday in Darjeeling. The gang of friends (which boasts familiar faces from TV and theatre) is meant to have a blast on the road but the foolish gags and lukewarm dialogues slacken the pace. Gourab and Shreya get cosy and make the mistake of recording their intimate moments on a handycam. The sequence is candidly filmed with Gourab caressing Roopali’s bare back as they make love on satin sheets. But the director does desist from turning the film into a sleaze fest. What had started off as a teen romance changes track post-interval. Things take an ugly turn when the teenagers get sucked into a porn racket. A giggling, squealing Roopali takes time to get under the skin of her character. Gourab does better as a mischievous fun-loving youth, except for the times when he bursts into tears as things go awry. Of the rest, Bhaswar tries to be the friend-philosopher-guide to his pals; his bright and chirpy lady love Sweta livens up things a bit. Swaralipi fits in as a silly romantic, while Dhruv, the guy without a girlfriend, is hardly funny. But the wafer-thin plot struggling to hold the chain of sensational events takes a toll on the film. The pedestrian treatment does not help matters. Digitally shot, Eti has the feel of a home video with shoddy editing and jerky camera movements.
