Starting from a seemingly pointless case of a puppy's accidental death, from eating chocolate, the essentially incompatible pair unexpectedly digs up the clues to a series of mysterious deaths.
The main character is career-obsessed Bo Dan Wu (played by Johnny Lu), a rising star at a telecom company in Taipei. When he learns the news of his estranged mother’s death, he reluctantly returns to his hometown (set in Matsu’s picturesque Qinbi Village (芹壁村) to pay his respects. When he arrives, he learns of a tradition which requires him to either marry within 100 days or wait for three years.

They include Mommy (Denny Tsao), the self proclaim Queen of the district. Ace (Jett Lee), a young punk about town who dreams of becoming an idol singer. Aniki (Toyoharu Kitamura), a tattoo artist and a self-proclaimed Japanese gangster. Seemingly mismatched, these eclectic individual's paths intertwine, inexplicably affecting one another and in turn, the pulse of today's Taipei.
Siao San (Steven Hao Shao Wen) is a mischievous little boy from a well to do family, but he is unhappy with his father's new marriage to a younger women because he feels neglected by his father. After being punished by his father for playing a trick on his new step grandmother who was picking on him, San decides to run away from home.
