Param Vir Chakra is a 1995 Bollywood war action film directed and written by Ashok Kaul. It stars Saeed Jaffrey, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Hema Malini. The film premiered on 31 March 1995 in Mumbai.
At the 42nd National Film Awards of 1998, veteran cinematographer Radhu Karmakar, who died in 1993, was posthumously given a Special Jury Award for the film.

Kubla(Raza Murad) is a terrorist and would like to rule over India. To do this, he needs vital information about the Indian armed forces, and he recruits an Indian army officer, Vikram(Mohnish Bahl). To get this information, Vikram kills another soldier and ensures that Karan Singh (Ajay Devgan), yet another army man, gets the blame. This goes according to plan, and Karan Singh is on the run. Then Kubla and Vikram abduct Col. Choudry(Saeed Jaffrey) and his daughter, Priya(Raveena Tandon). Hawaldar finds an abandoned new born baby boy in the gutter of Kamathipura, a red light area of Bombay. A prostitute, meanwhile gave birth to another baby boy. She decides to educate him and requests Hawaldar to give him a father's name. Hawaldar's wife does not accept the child and leaves for her parents home. Hawaldar adopts the child and names him Ajay while the prostitute's son is named Shlok. Both are admitted to School and become friends. Shlok does well in studies whereas Ajay takes up gambling. Shlok falls in love with Pooja, daughter of J.K - a millionaire. Ajay does not believe in love and is a cynic. Havaldar tries his best to get Ajay a job but Ajay finds that it is difficult for him to work in a corrupt society. Ekka Seth is a terror in the prostitutes basti and he exploits the innocent girl and forces them into prostitution. Shlok graduates and completes his M.B.A. Ajay wins a crore rupees in gambling and encourages Shlok to pursue his project. Ekka and his men abduct and kill Hawaldar's daughter.Ajay decides to avenge this and proceeds to kill Ekka's men and frees the sex workers from his clutches. He then takes on Ekka and manages to kill him, but is grieviusly wounded in the fight. The final scene shows Ajay dying to protect his brother and attaining martyrdom.

Master Dinanth (Amitabh Bachchan) is a freedom fighter and participated in the war against the British in 1942 and independence was eventually won in 1947. But after independence, the people's love for their country seems to be diminishing and they are too busy betraying it like ex British landlord Thakur Pratab Singh (Amjad Khan). Master Dinanth finds out about Thakur Pratab Singh's illegal activities such as smuggling of weapons and ammunition and gets him arrested. In revenge for putting him in prison, Pratab Singh gets Master Dinnanth's wife Bharati (Sharmila Tagore) and daughter Priti (Parveen Babi) kidnapped by Thakur's partner in crime Sher Singh (Kader Khan) to try to change his ways but to no avail. Thakur also provokes an attack on Masterji's home by the local villagers who accuse Dinanath of betraying his country and he is forced to flee his home with his young son Raju. His wife becomes a victim of leprosy and escapes from Sher Singh, leaving her daughter Priti in a friend's care. Masterji is informed that his wife and daughter could be dead as they find a necklace of hers near the train tracks. Masterji is devastated by his wife and daughter's loss and he and his son move on with their life.

An amendment in Independent India comes where kingdoms are seized and people from Royal family are no longer rulers. One such kingdom is about to be seized from Vipin Kumar who refuses to lose his position. He continues to rule the jurisdiction as king and compels people to pay tax to him. People protest against this and one such person is police Inspector Dhirendra Singh (Rajesh Khanna). Because of this, he is transferred to a small village. His parents arrange his marriage with Janki (Hema) who is the daughter of Dhirendra's father's childhood friend. But Janki is in love with Manu Pratap Singh (Dharmendra). Due to an enmity between two families, Janki's aunt warns her that their love would not be accepted by Janki's father. But both of them are strong in their love and have an affair. Manu Pratap Singh's younger brother Bhanu (Vinod Khanna) is in love with an orphan girl Kamli. All are happy until Raja Jaipal Singh rapes Kamli and she runs away from the village. Meanwhile Jaipal Singh says he wants to marry Janki, which angers her father as he is the father of teenage girl even if he's a king.

The plot concerns playboy Virendra Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan). A clause in the will of his wealthy father forces him to enter a military academy in order to inherit. Virendra's repeated attempts to get himself discharged are foiled by Major Jasbir Singh Rana (Amitabh Bachchan). Then Virendra falls in love with Nisha (Sonali Bendre), the sister of a gangster named Shankar (Ashish Vidhyarthi). Jan Nisar Akhtar Khan works as a Forest Officer, and lives with his wife Zakhiya and his daughter Neelu. One day while on duty he comes across some poachers who were cutting sandal wood trees illegally. When challenged, they retaliate, a struggle ensues, and one of them, Ram Gupta, is killed. Khan is charged with killing him, tried in Court, and sentenced to several years in prison. His shocked and devastated wife kills herself along with their daughter. Years later, an angry and embittered Khan is released from prison. One day he comes across another young man, Vijay Singh, and finds out that he is struggling with taking vengeance against three men who had traumatized and killed some of his family members, and decides to help him. It is then Khan finds out that Gupta is still alive and decides to kill him, quite dramatically in the same courtroom where he was convicted for his murder. Vijay also has sister, Miss Durga Singh who has joined Police department just to take revenge against those three men, but law-fully whereas her brother Vijay has decided to kill them one by one by taking law in his own hands as he like Khan does not believe in law. How he succeeds is the entertaining story of this movie.
