The film marks the debut of Riteish Deshmukh in Marathi cinema, while Salman Khan and Genelia D'Souza also feature in cameo appearances. The film went on to become the highest grossing Marathi film of all time.
On 25th January 2015 Lai Bhaari broke all previous records & got the highest television viewership for any film in Maharashtra (Marathi - Hindi ) with 5727 TVTs.
It is remade in Odia as Jaga Hatare Pagha starring Anubhav Mohanty.
Synopsis
Pratap Singh Nimbalkar (Uday Tikekar) and his wife Sumitra Devi (Tanvi Azmi) are known for their social work like helping poor farmers by giving them land and shelter. Even though they are blessed by everyone, Sumitra Devi is insulted for not having a child even though she has been married for many years. Her maid suggests her to pray to Lord Vithoba (generally known as Vitthala by most common people of Maharashtra) in Pandharpur, a holy place in Maharashtra. Out of eagerness, Sumitra Devi promises to give her first son to Lord Vitthala.Acteurs

Krishna (Nandamuri Balakrishna) lives in Dubai while his family is in India. His grandmother is against him who settled in India. Krishna falls for Sneha (Sonal Chauhan) and comes to India to seek the blessings of his grandmother. Jitender (Jagapati Babu) is a man with pride and haughtiness. He cannot tolerate anyone who comes across his way. Once, he goes to a nearby village for a marriage proposal to him. There he gets involved in a quarrel with the village headman (Suman) due to some unfortunate events and gets jailed. From then onwards, he tries to take revenge on that family. He kills the family members of the village headman one-by-one. As soon as Krishna arrives in India, he gets involved in quarreling with the gang of Jitendra. When Krishna and his family members are traveling in a bus to visit a temple Jitender's hitmen shoot Krishna and his family members are beaten badly by his henchmen. Krishna's elder brother Jai Dev The Legend (Nandamuri Balakrishna) who remained exiled obeying his grandmother, saves them and Krishna is admitted in a hospital. Then the past is revealed that twenty years back there was a quarrel between Jai Dev and Jitender in which Jai Dev's cousin (Radhika Apte) whom he loved was killed by Jitender. At present, he comes to know that Jitender is going to become Chief Minister of the state.How he stops Jitender from claiming this throne forms the rest of the story.

L'histoire se base sur la famille Kapoor. Daboo et Chintu sont frères et se détestent l'un et l'autre, leurs femmes et leurs filles se détestent aussi. Les deux prétendent qu'ils vont obtenir le gendre le plus riche pour leur fille. Aakhri Pasta, un conseiller conjugal, apporte les parents de Jai à Chintu, Aakhri dit alors de mauvaises choses à Chintu au sujet du père de Jai ce qui le met en colère et provoque une crise cardiaque à ce dernier. Jai cherche à se venger et demande à Jolly, le fils de JD, s'il voudrait accepter de se marier avec la fille de Chintu puis de rompre lors du mariage, mais il refuse car il a déjà une petite amie. Jolly pense alors à Max, un ami de la fac et connu pour être un grand voleur qui se fera passer pour le fils de JD. Mais ils se trompent de maison et vont chez Dabboo. Jai ne sait plus quoi faire et cherche toujours à se venger, Jolly suggère alors Sunny, un autre ami de la fac, mais ils savent que Max et ce dernier sont ennemis depuis leur dispute à la fac et que les maisons de Dabboo et de Chintu sont côte à côte. Alors pour éviter qu'ils ne se rencontrent, Jolly reste avec Sunny et Jai avec Max. Mais lorsque les 2 familles se retrouvent chez JD, les choses se dégénèrent.
