Exo oi kleftes (Greek: Greek: Έξω οι κλέφτες, Translations: Leave You Thieves and Get Out You Thieves) is a 1961 Greek comedy film directed by Kostas Andritsos and stars Orestis Makris, Dionysis Papayiannopoulos, Dimitris Nikolaidis, Martha Karagianni, Andreas Douzos, Koulis Stoligas, etc. The movie was based on a theatrical play by Stefanos Fotiadis.

Synopsis

The honest and poor professor of theology learned as a very rich man, he also had an unprepared brother which he was very sick and which his courage that he restored that he done bad and participated into the running of a large factory. He made it without knowing his brakes and his factory was about to be robbed. He finally knew his brakes and kicked out all the thieves.

Un enseignant désargenté (Dimitris Papamichail) trouve un emploi dans un collège privé de jeunes filles. Il est très vite en butte aux tracasseries de ces jeunes bourgeoises hautaines. M. Agathoklis (Oréstis Makrís) est un cafetier râleur de Plaka, célibataire endurci. Son attitude est telle qu'il fait même fuir ses habitués. Seule sa propriétaire, M Epistimi (Georgía Vassiliádou), secrètement amoureuse de lui, prend sa défense. Un jour, à la surprise du quartier, il adopte un nouveau-né abandonné sur le pas de sa porte. Les voisins se perdent en conjectures et très vite, les rumeurs vont bon train. Cependant, un vieux garçon n'est pas ce qu'il y a de plus indiqué pour s'occuper d'un bébé. Il engage donc une nourrice, Maria, qui s'avère être bien sûr la vraie mère de l'enfant. M. Agathoklis tombe vite amoureux d'elle, mais il se sacrifie et cherche le véritable père.

Rumous have it that a Swiss company is making investment plans to develop a Greek island. A couple of Athenian enterpreneurs rush to the island to buy land and flip it for profit. The Athenian couple, a race-car driver and an actress, meet the resistance of the island's grand old lady who does not wish to sell land to outsiders. The business plans eventually fail to materialise but romance ensues between the actress and the son of the lady as well as the race-car driver and a local girl. The film has references to ancient Greek tragedy and contains elements from it such as a chorus.
